I'd seen this little beauty in the shop and had been lusting after it for ages as it's one of the best looking boards I've seen - great graphics and a bamboo deck!!! What's not to love? Surprisingly it stayed on the shelf, I'm guessing because there aren't many mag reviews of it!??! Anyway, turned out I needed a light wind waveboard (see my RTQ review!) and the shop needed room for more new gear! WIn WIn

First impressions - I wasn't quite sure what to expect as its quite an unusual shape, very stubby, parralell rails, wide tail, conservative rocker... well it's actually brilliant to sail and perfect for what I intended. it's very easy to use, very fast - so great for jumping and the wide tail takes a larger sail size (5.7ish) happily and actually somehow makes it feel smaller. The thruster setup grips very well so it'll crank upwind but it also turns on a relatively tight radius, gybing beautifully or sailing on onshore or smaller waves. In fact small waves are brilliant fun, it'll pick up on the merest hint and accellerate away or stay riding at low speed.

....and when you're finished with your small wave session you can crack a beer and just gaze lovingly at your beautiful board

Yeah totally agree, had the go on it and wish I had bought it! Apparently the fins don't appreciate a rocky beach landing though even if you have been sailing the outer reef at Tantabidi

Whats your rescue plan from out there . Will definatetly hit that spot up next time I'm up that way.

The board looks awesome, great colour choice and combo with the bamboo and the graphic design.

good to read your article on the Naish Global. I was in a similar position. I'd read a lot of good things on the Naish Starship and had ridden and liked the Starboard Kode.
A Starship 90L 2017 was advertised for an absolute steal of a price. I thought the same thing, the shop must had needed to move old stock.
Rang the shop in WA on a Saturday , bought it. They sent it off on Monday and it arrived on the Thursday at my house in Sydney, unreal.
My first ride on the board at Botany Bay in a 25 - 30Knt southerly with a 4.5M sail. Couldn't believe how unreal the board went. Couldn't believe it was as good as the articles said. I even let a guy with his Kode 94L have a go. He liked it better than the Kode.
It's funny how not many people ride Naish boards, maybe we can help change the trend but then we wouldn't have bought the boards at a bargain price. You might have got yours at the same shop?
A couple of weeks later someone else turned up with another new Starship, he loved his too. The Starship is also a great looking board.

what do you weigh ? - or how would the same board go for 80 kg rider on east coast NSW as larger of two board quiver?

Nice Global Sinker! I saw a used Global at my shop too for a great price, contiplated on picking it up, but didn't. Oh well, another time.

Nig22, she's a beauty!!. Glad you got her! You're going to have many, many amazing, epic sessions with your Starship, as I do with mine! Best board I ever sailed. Enjoy!

Anymore feedback on these boards? Wondering if they have a good turn of speed and if they are OK off the plane

I have a 92 2017 and with limited sessions on it have been impressed. With the wind here ( or lack thereof) my Dyno 115 ( a love affair with the Dyno I confess) gets the vast majority of sessions when there are lumps in Geoffrey Bay but the Global is good fun, chucks around well, slogs in the lulls fine ( I'm 78kg) and jumps up in the gusts. I haven't tried it with a bigger single fin which I will do and that may be a good lighter wind option. If we get Tradewinds this year ( once I'm back on the water) it'll get a lot of use.
