Have just rigged and sailed the new 7.0 RSSM3. Due to light wind only planned for about 10 mins, so not much to say YET. They rig (X6) with more twist than last years and I still had 1-2cm of downhaul to go. I always sail 2 or 3 times before applying the reccomended. The sail rotation is better, if thats possible and its easy to rig. Also have 9.5 & 6.2. I will post more comments once I have a decent session.

Where did you get it? I want one!

Went out on I122 and 9.5 RSSM3 yesterday. Wind was approx 8-13 at a guess. Got 28.4 2 second on the GPS, which is not bad considering its a very large sail. 100m was 27.7 and 250 was 27.2 which indicates good off the wind average speeds. Reaching was in the low 20's. The 9.5 however is too large for the 122 and should be on a 133 to make the most of the low end/upwind. The sail is very powerfull and seems to have a great top end. Very easy to handle, light in the hands and to rig. Cam rotation is excellent. Unlike the the 7.0/6.2 I think it could handle a little more downhaul than reccomended, so will try that next time. I was completely powered in 10 knots,and sometimes wondered where the wind was when I got off. My last sail was the 8.4, and at a guess needed a nice 12/13 to be completely powered, the 9.5 drops that by a fair bit and should lead nicely into the 7.8/7.0 with a 101/94 range....

I am interested in the 9.5/7/6.2 also, with the 9.5 working nicely on my Slalom IV 134. Are you getting 7.8 in the Mk3 or do you already have a 7.8 RSR/RSS? I am interested as to how the range differers from the old 7.8 to the new and also how the range of the 7 is compared to the 6.7 RSR.

I am trying the 9.5 to 7.0 gap this season. Last year I had 8.4/6.7 and recently dropped from the 6.7 to the 6.2. The 7.0 has more power than the old 6.7, say 7.2/5 equiv however havent explored the top end yet. Hence I decided not to bother with 7.8. I plan to run 9.5/I133 exclusively the same as yourself with the JP 134. The 7/6.2 will run on my I94, as you always get the best performance from boards by running the 2 middle sail sizes and not the largest or smallest reccomended. For me 88kg the 7/94 should be away in 13/14 up to 20+. The 6.2/94 from 18 - 25+. I think by running an ajustable outhaul I can make the 7.0 do most of the things I want it to. This offcourse all depends on your weight, board sizes and skill in getting kit planning. Cant wait for a decent 7m day!

Your 94 will be sweet with the 7/6.2, my favourite combo used to be the 94 with the 6.7RSR, from my 2 sessions on the 92 it should be a good replacement with a few advantages for my weight. Look forward to hearing more on the 7 when you get more watertime. SCS always get a visit when I am up that way, nice shop and guys.

About 3 of those in 7m-ish sizes have just popped up at the club here in Singapore this past week or two. The owners are the regular bunch of speed freaks, always pushing for that extra knot. They look shweeeeet!

Got the 7.0 M3 (X6 430 mast) out on the water today with an I94. Was using a select 35cm fin. Great low end, (absolutely has power of a 7.2/7.5) was up and running in about 13/14 (Im about 87/88kg). Very easy to use rig and quick,light in the hands. As the wind came up just cranked on a little more outhaul for reaching and let it off again for some speed runs. When the wind picked up it was 16 - 20 knots. As far as times go I went faster on the 7's 1st real session than I have ever have been on the 6.7 RSR, so not bad, infact equalled my best time sailing a 6.2 RSR in wind from the same direction, so I'm impressed.

One interesting fact is that (6.2 400/430 and 7.0 430/460) you can use different size masts. I rigged the 6.2 on both 400 & 430 and they looked the same, perhaps because its a progressive curve. Hence decission to rig on 430, and now no need to get 460...great!

Now cant wait to try ther 6.2!

The sail is light in the hands and has a great top end, although havent found that yet, was in about 20-25 knots. If it was on a smallerboard I86/W53 would have been faster I think. Handled the gusts very well and the acceleration was incredible. Like it a lot!

that looks like sh.t loads of downhaul to me for light winds, and you still had 1-2cm to go, the battens look like they could do with a tune or is it just my pc

yep, looks like more tension required.

Yes your both right, the battens did require some tuning, just like to sail it a couple of times 1st, before setting them correctly.

I have stuffed up and bought the 7.8 when what i needed was the 8.6.
Is anyone interested in buying this sail??
it is absolutely brand new (not even unwrapped yet).
retail is around $1450. Would let it go for $1100.
Also have the recommended mast (X6 460) avail for the perfect package, if wanted.(Retail $720, would sell for $400).
