Interesting that they say it would be the Benchmark when it only gets a half mention in 2 of the 7 catagories listed.

Since Dean has placed a giant sticker over half his sail, we're looking for some more pictures of an NCX setting benchmarks at your local spot.

The best photo posted wins a prize! Up for grabs is a pair of boardies, and a hat!

Rules..

1. Any year model NCX accepted.
2. Hat and Boardies to be divided between sailor and photographer.
3. Boardies only available in 30,32,34 and 36.
4. Boardies are not to be worn over your wetsuit.

Having a rest at Lake George (thanks Decrepit for the image), fun 2 days - Just missed a 40kt peak (39.45), 26.29kt hr, 24.87 alpha plus heaps of km's... who needs cammed sails!!

Will the NCX rig and perform properly on RDM's? What is the recommended mast for the NCX considered as far as bend curves go. Constant curve? Cheers.

I rig a 5.5 NCX on an rdm and it goes well. Although the Severne masts are at the hard top end of the range, I was short of a Severne mast for a bit last year and rigged my 7.0 NCX on a Neil Pryde X6. I suppose back to back you could tell the difference but really it went pretty well. Much better than the Hellcats I had previously rigged on that X6. Here's my highlight track from last season. Futura 101, NCX 7.0, NP X6 mast. That's it on the left.

Gee your fussy. Now I had to fly all the way up to green island again, take the sticker off the sail, wait for the Sun to be in the same spot and sling Billy to keep taking photos till we got it right!!

Worth a try, but allow for a later update. You'll never know that you've got design performance until you put in the design mast.

I regularly use a 7.5 NCX with a Severne red line 460 RDM. Just to keep everything simple and streamlined with my wave sails.

I can go from arrive at beach to rigged and sailing in under 5 minutes.

The sail delivers a bit more knuckle and curve up the front when rigged on the RDM compared to an SDM. My personal view is that this delivers some extra bottom end via the " faux camber inducer " effect.

This is perfect for me as i am more interested in being comfortable and moderately powered up than being maxed.

I believe the SDM combo will deliver a better top end speed.

For me this combo with an Isonic 107 works beautifully -especially with early planing. although the Isonic probably really deserves at least an Overdrive or Reflex to be put on it.
But the NCX punches way above its weight so the combo is unconventional - but valid for me!
