Very noice Remi. Great to see MS combining the TRxt and TR models into one line with the x-ply on the leech (twist off zone)

What's happened to Phil's signature hat, maybe too much wind resistance for the new speed of the X. Never seen him sail without his hat!

wow those photos are awesome, wonder who took those

Not sure where Phil's hat was that day, was nowhere to be seen. Fear not though it made several appearances on other days, so it's still in action and flying past everyone atop of his noggin

First TRX batch has landed, a few pics of the 6.3 and 7.0. Very quick sail today on the 7.0 (thought I picked the 7.7 so was well underpowered), very light and responsive, just needed more wind, more to come soon:

How does the tack strap work, when it looks to be way past the end of the extension? sails look the goods though

Around the uni tendon Izaak. I've been doing this with my loft Blades (after I saw it on one of Remi's previous TR-8 threads I think)and it sets the foot of the sail much nicer than tensioning to the base of extension. Only negative is it wears the safety rope on the universal.

Remi,
Are the TRX's RDM compatible in the smaller sizes?

Only the 4.7 and 5.1. I know they tested up to 6.3 with an rdm and performance was good but the sail (luff pocket) looks quite loose. While sailing it tensions up so not an issue.

Picked up a TRX7.0 on thursday from Remi

First off the Build quality is excellent. the sail just feels solidly built. The mast i picked up with it is reinforced with carbon layer and has given me a lot more confidence (which is a lot since I have broken 5 masts this year!)

Had it out on 3 sessions now all 20-30 knot days and i am stoked with the performance of these sails.
In big gusts(30kn) it pulls like a truck but is super stable at speed and just keeps pouring on the power for more acceleration. even in the strongest gusts with the sail locked down it had almost no back pressure on the mast that you often get with bigger sails in strong winds.

The sail pushed my Patrik 115 (42 fin) over 30 knots without a problem and was still pulling trying to go faster but was being held back by the board (and the rider) The speeds are slowly rising as i get more comfortable with the sail trim and technique.

I had it out on Saturday on a JP 90 slalom (34 fin) and it worked great.

Gybing - The entry is very easy and smooth - the sail comfortly depowers when you sheet in your back hand - I still need a bit of work on the transition and exit tho as im dumping too much speed. the sail gives a real kick when the cams pop and you power up on the other side - more than my previous sails. on last session i started widening the arc a bit and it helped a lot to counter this on the exit.

Big thanks to Remi for all the help setting up and tuning the sail. Made a huge differnce on sunday when he came down to the water and tune up all the battens etc. His support is one of the reasons i went for the TR sail

A short video of the 7.7 (for the next Test Review of French mag Planch Mag):

7.7 was tested yesterday in light to strong conditions (gusting to 25+ kts). More stable with more shape overall as can be seen in the following video with a very soft feeling up top. I managed 34+ knots peak speed on the Exocet RS4 with 41 Select Vmax2.

I agree the Mauisails TR9 is the benchmark and up there with the best...

Mauisails may not have the big production budgets for marketing and team rider

deals of the major brands but the sails fly and worth every cent IMHO

Cheers Russ

The new masts are more constant curve than hard top so yes the TRX can be used with constant curve masts. Tassierocks uses CC masts quite successfully and was already doing so in the TR9s.

Yes 9 battens as they already had in the Neutron during their Gaastra days (10 years ago??) and also some other brands are joining the 9 batten race sail wagon

I used a Naish 75% 430 freeride constant curve mast on the TRX 6.6 yesterday. The sail set perfect and was a real joy to sail. Wish I took a picture yesterday but forgot the I phone.

The rotation is even better this year I would say as perfect as you can make it on a race sail. Honestly I have owned single cam sails that do not rotate as well as the TRX. If you are thinking about getting a race sail but unsure if race sails are to physical to manage try a Mauisail TRX they are super stable, fast, light in the hands (forgiving) have huge range and rotate like a no cam sail especially the TRX, which sets perfect on most constant curve masts I would think. (save money not buying new masts) bonus

These sails fly out of the gybe. I had the best fun doing super fast laydown gybes the sail does not feel heavy at all and you feel like you have 100% control at all times and acceleration comming out of the gybe is fantastic.

The first sail on a new sail tell you a lot I think the Mauisails boys nailed it the TRX RIPS and is FUN FUN FUN

Could you please elaborate at what point Maui Sails started switching to constant curve - was it TR9 or with the TR-X?

I mail order my sails so don't have opportunity to test rig on my existing mast.

AFAIK, tr8 was still hard top?

Thanks!
