Anyone got any 05 Kaos reviews apart from what is on the KA site.

Hey Mark haven't seen ya sailing in a while there's been plenty of wind around.So why the kaos you looking for a wave sail.

I've been sailing as much as my body and time allows. Been a bit surprised that I havent seen you down there sailing? I'm not racing tomorrow, am working plus forecast dosent look so good.

I got gps back, replaced under warranty, am now after bag like one you had for the etrex but I cant seem to find them. THe aqua packs dont have the arm bands on them.

I've been using freestyle gear a bit lately and need a new 5m, I was after a north but the kaos came up at a good price and it looks bullet proof, which is a big plus over the norths... since kites dont seem to look whats happening around them , i'm really considering sailing at manly in a NE from now on.

Thanks CamO, unfortunately I am on other side of country. Any comments are welcome, especially crossover into high wind freestyle. Any rigging tips... i wish more companies would use a downhaul vts.

it does have an advantage on a low tide.
however if you like waves the eastern side of wello goes off.
Wello's been good this week high tide all week.
I haven't been getting down until 4.00 pm so maybe your gone already.
I cracked 39 knots on Tuesday at wello 36 average.

I guess you've been sailing on opposite days to me, it would be nice to get the gps out again but figure if I can overtake people on the slow gear i'm still doing ok.

I'm just getting sick of trying to find a space amoungst the kites, we have to sail so far downwind that I may as well sail at manly. One of the best sessions i've had lately was sailing the eastern side in n/e... no kites to worry about at all. If you cant half tell I got hit by a teabagger the other day

I'm not sure if you are looking at a particular Kaos s/h or buying new.

If it's s/h then for sure they are as good as you want in the strength as ease of use etc. so if it looks undamaged then get it.

if it's new, and you can get one then, then go for it.
Alternatively an 06 Kult could be an option, probably near as strong as the 05 Kaos but a bit lighter feel.

I use (read ABUSE) a 4.7 Kaos 05 and it's had plenty of colisions of my 95kgs and still is as good as new.

My stock of 06 KAs are arriving any minute so just ask any Q'S YOU LIKE.

They like a loose leach, so where a north you might set to it's max indicator then that's normal for a KA. Kaos' like the KA skinny mast.

Thanks, I have it now but havent had a chance to use it yet. You cant go past the bulletproof construction and well placed materials. Will rig similar to north's and see how I go

I got a KA Kaos 05,

It Feels really similar to my 2004 sail that got stolen. Its got a litle more re-inforcement in the window and the panels are a bit smaller.

All in all a great sail. Its so good to buy a product thats going to do the distance.

Since i've used this sail a few times suppose I should post review.

Got a 5.3 05 Kaos, to sum it up before I begin I love this sail.

When I first got it I was a little concerned with the weight but this dosent carry over to the water and it does infact feel very light in the hands once rigged. Sail was set on fibrespar tidal wave 430, a few cm's on the adjustable head. Twist is nice and progressive, it actually twists off quite a bit and I received comments from other sailors on how well it twisted off. Sail was used for freestyle/bump and jump.

Materials and construction- It looks good, although it is white/grey/black the materials used look very high tech and cut is good (definately looks better than the images KA uses on their website). Reinforcement is excellent, monofilm panels are divided up so it's not a biggie if you go through them, their xply materials look good and are nice and supple. Luff material is good, light but strong and dosent absorb water, this looks weird at the start cause the water beads off it.
My only two gripes are
1. Monofilm used is thick and strong but dosent feel all that supple so this may develop creases when being transported etc.
2. Seams are accurate and well sewn but they use very thick seams, to me if companies want to use thick seams that is good but they should also sew a little closer to the edge of the seam material otherwise it lifts a little as it has done on my sail around the monofilm windows.

On the water- awesome, very easy to use. Sail sets kind of flat but has heaps of pull,it is very deceiving. First day of use I set with very little downhaul and I was planing on 5.3 when others were struggling with 6.3's (I'm one of the heavier sailors too at 85+kg). Have since used it in gusty up to overpowered conditions and the sail handled it beautifully, it soaked up the gusts and stayed stable only being unsettled once with one huge gust. Sail depowers nice and smooth certainly not on/off. Sail foot was perfect for duck gybes/avoiding the steep chop and not too high for flat water. Sail is definately not soggy in feel possibly down to that strong monofilm. Sail has a reasonably defined sweet spot not a broad pull but definately not twitchy either, it is not back handy at all even when overpowered. BIG plus is the huge range of adjustment available making this a very versatile sail.

So all up I love this sail, I was a bit worried using a dedicated wave sail for flatwater freestyle but it handled it nicely (I rate it better than the north's I have tried/used). This sail definately has me keen to try others in the KA range.
