Has anyone of you guys ever tried the JP quad? I've read a lot about the Starboard one on various websites but can't find anything about the JP.

HAven't tried the Quad but have the new JP 92 twinser - sailed in 20-25 knts cross on and v small back hand waves.

Was very pleasantly surprised it gets going easy, jumps nicely, feels great of the bottom and top (backhand ) and has a good turn of speed - plenty of float to come out of a dead stop jump in the straps and power up easily.

I am seriously looking forward to some DTL waves. at 85kg's floats me easy (on a 4.7 Poison). I was a little uncertain as to how it would go in B&J conditions - but sure had a big smile on my face after 2 hours of sailing.

I concur with the 92 Twin... Great board.

I had decided this year to try for a one board quiver, and after some deliberation went with the 92 twin pro. Only had it out in onshore 20knts so far and it performed far better than I ever expected. And is by far the most comfortable I have ever been on a board on the first run out.

I beleive bertie has one up at gnaraloo at the moment, you can expect some feedback when he gets back next week I imagine.

I will be going up with my Starboard Quad on thursday, maybe i will get to try the JP and compare em, we will see.

I've got the JP Quad 92. So far no DTL to try it on yet but it was suprisingly good in cross onshore jumping conditions. Lots of speed and gets upwind really easily - also super quick to plane. Volume floats me easily at 86kg but doesn't feel like a 92L to sail. Really manoeuvrable and great pop for jumping. Also works well at freestyle with the tiny fins. I can see I'm going to get a lot of use out of this board this year - can't wait to try it in some DTL conditions!

Filthy amatuer (what a name!), such a comparison would be most interesting. To be continued... As for me, I will be on Reunion island within 2 weeks, and testing a 75l Quatro twinny. Can't wait!!!

The JP Quad 74 is a sick board. I haven't made it out in the surf yet but I is performing really well in Port Phillip bay. I've used it with a 4.8 Fly, 4.2 Fly and Combat, 3.6 Fly and 3.5 Combat.

Compared to last year's Twin 76 the quad simply does everything better. Just as I thought, the extra fins feel like they are responsible for the great up wind ability and extra drive. I thought that being a quad and really wavey-looking board, it might feel like a banana - dogging in lighter wind and pushing water. But I've found that it is faster than last year's twin, moves more freely across the water and has more drive though the back foot. This equals better jumps too! I did 20+ backloops at Oliver's Hill, Franston on my 3.5 last weekend. It was 35+ knots, fairly crossshore but slightly on. It went over the white water with ease, gripping well and being balanced in the air when bouncing a bit. I didn't stack once heading out.

The board is a little bit heavier than last year's twin but once on the water I couldn't tell the difference and the whole kit felt light and responsive.

It turns really well from what I can tell from turning a bit in the bay but I hope to get down to the coast soon. You can really feel the little side fins gripping in the "cut back" but still sliding a bit if you want it to. When it spins out it does it smoothly and still provides some resistance so you can pull it back in.

Freestyle! Just as I suspected, this board is great for freestyle. The fins are tiny so you can turn and spin and slide through any move. Great for Flakas.

got to try my 68 quad out on saturday and it is awesome!
used it with my new 4.7 zone in cross off conditions at sandy point. swell was decent with logo high sets.

sailed it on some flat water before walking across to the waves and noticed that it feels very different to last years 68 twin. there is more drive under the back foot and the board generally feels more efficient. the new double concave bottom shape makes the board feel almost like it floats over everything so it is a much smoother ride.

it planes way earlier than expected and is a machine upwind. before buying the quad i was hesitant as i thought they would be quite slow and lack jumping ability but this assumption was very wrong. they project off ramps better due to the extra drive under the back foot.

the shape is also more compact than last years twin fins so the volume feels more centred making it easier to dog around to get out through the waves. when actually on the wave the bottom turn is definitely more 'locked in' than a twin fin and in the top turn the board carves awesomely making full on kauli style cutbacks easy! the extra grip is definitely noticeable when smacking sections. when you would usually lose control with a twin the fins keep their grip in the white water. however it is still easily possible to break the fins out in a lip slide as well by using a lot of back foot pressure in the top turn.

so far totally stoked with it!

i used the 92 quad as my light wind board up in gnaraloo last week.
I'm only 77kgs but it felt way smaller than what it was on the wave, but was nice and stable out the back. early and easy to plane.
the most awesome board i have ridden IN witewater. it gets mega drive off whitewater cutbacks and accelerates out so much. No spinouts in the hard whitewater.
Sailed nicely with my 5.7 firefly in about 15 knots and logoish waves.
I cant say anything bad about it except after sailing it last time in low tide i now have 3 fins to sand back :(

i'll prolly be having a 82 as my scarborough board when the next shipment arrives soon, but i think i'll keep my polakow 74 twin as my big wave and high wind board.

I'd also like to try a quad with the next size up twinzer fins and with the polakow fins but that might have to wait till my foot heals up a bit.
