Do anybody know the real volume of isonics 2014?. I'm looking for an intermidiate size between my Is 94 2009 (actually 91l and 59,5) and my Is 117 2013 (80,5).

Isonic 97- 95L
Isonic 107- 105L
Isonic 110- 112L
Isonic 117- 121L

Looks like Fred just beat me to it..

Iso 107 is demon of a board, lets you step down quick from the 117 but can pretty much carry same sail sizes & is much faster (I reckon they are capable of 40 knots).

yep my first ride was just under 38 with a 7m, second ride was just under 36 with 8.6m. There was more to be had out of it, wind & angle weren't ideal. Was also stoked with a 35 knot tight reach.

JEAGGA go for it, the 107 is that much nicer than the 117 that even in light winds i tend to grab the 107, just need the wind to be consistent. Due to the decreased tail width I find the 2013 Is97 too close to it (plus the 107 is faster) so the Is94 you have will be a nice step down. You wont be disappointed.

Whats the early planing like for the i107 with a 7.8 ?

I had my new 2014 107 out for the first time on Sat and managed 36.5 knots. This board is a gun and I know it can go much faster

what's the next board down from 107 that you really like?
I've heard that 90 is pure downwind board?

Would next board down be a 97 or a 87?
Anybody tried both and could say it's as good (for its windrange) as the 107?

I've tried the rrd 98 and it's super balanced board but haven't tried the small SBs...

I'm probably not the person to ask as I don't plane early but 7.8 is the boards sweet spot. It's among the earliest planing boards of that size i've tried, Simon was out on his on Saturday going earlier than another experienced sailor on a 121 Falcon, it was pretty light. I've used the 117 once since I got the 107 at Xmas, i'm actually going to move up to the 85 wide Isonic this year to get more early planing difference (the 117 does plane earlier but I can go bigger as step to the 107 quite early).

I haven't tried the earlier Isonics this year but am looking to get a Is90, refer to here for review on this board-

I had 127 carbon and went down to 117w carbon as 85 cm of width was to much for me to handle, I believe 85 wide is for 90+ kgs guys, so think twice before that.

thanks- i'm not a fan of 75+wide boards but i'm heavy & want it for the 10-12 knot days, racing & to happily carry a 9.5

A few of us have had the new 90 for around 6 months and love it. Feels really fast off the wind and its great in chop. I agree MK that if you are a bit heavier and want to carry a larger sail then the 130/127 is the go. I have a 117 on the way but I am 82kg and my biggest sail is an 8.6. Thinking it probably wont get much use but will be handy on those lighter days when you just want to go for a cruise. Cannot wait to try the 107 with the 8.6.

Yes the 2014 iS90 63cm wide (93l) is exceptionally good going broad but needs a slightly different stance when pointing in comparison to my 2012 iS97 64.5cm wide (94l?) i.e. the iS97 with its more parallel rails points hard and fast whereas the iS90 is more technically difficult to lock down pointing hard - the 97 easily beats the 90 for upwind speed and comfort IMO. Both very good boards but they do offer very different experiences. The iS97 in very severe chop (open ocean) can become a handful when going for it due to the width of its tail whereas the iS90 is much more controllable.

I also have a 2012 iS117 (80.5cm) and 2013 iS110 (75cm). Even though only 5cm different in width I use the 117 with my 8.6m as my light wind board and the 110 with a 7.8 as my medium wind board sometimes dropping down to the iS97 and 7.8 (which is also a very good combo). Although never ridden one, I suspect the iS107 offers the best of both the 110 and 97, that is to say a 107 would supersede the need for both a 110 and 97.

I've never given the 7.8 a go with the iS90 though. Anyone?

BTW - I'm about 93% of 100kgs

the '13 97 is slightly comfier than the 107 in the chop, that 6.5cm width does get knocked around a bit more but yer there is alot of crossover between the two. The new sizings were surprising but I think they've nailed it, the old 97 was a very safe sized open water board but to me I would've happily swapped some of that trucking upwind with free'er off the wind.

Does anyone have any experience between 2011 and 2014 years model?

I have had all those boards. A lot of people liked the 2011 which I think was only avail in wood. The 2012 carbon felt a little stiff in chop, the wood was more forgiving. The 2013 had a different carbon lay up and felt much better in chop. The 2014 is best ever and fastest. Just my opinion. Cheers.
