The Fusion replaces my Tabou 3S classic 106 which was sailed to pieces and a great board.Wanted something more turny and was close to buying the 3S+ 106 but opted or the Fusion. The main reason was to get a much stronger construction than a factory board, who ding to easily.
Was prepared to offer some performance from the 3S but was happily surprised. The Fusion gets going a little bit slower than the 3S classic but its so much better in all other areas. Out in rough conditions with 40knots onshore in the gusts and was on a 5.8 sail. Chose a big sail to really try the board when heavy overpowered as this is a common state in our sailing areas. Not much stable thermic winds.
What impressed me most? Definetly its stability sideways both when blasting and turning. Never tried a board that turns so smooth and at the same time feels so stable during the turn. Full planning gybes just materialized by them selfes in choppy conditions.
I could go downwind heavily overpowered with all the speed I could pick up in choppy conditions without getting the spin outs I was expecting. A chop lover..
The board turns much better than me and I did pull off all of my tacks which definetly is a sign of a well balanced board. Goes upwind good enough and is more than fast enough.
Very stable when entering in/out of straps and nice to surf on the wave with. Lots of sideways stability at all speeds.Did two days in same conditions.
All summed up its a great board and a very nice experience. THere will be more custom boards coming...
