Anyone have any experience on the new Ezzy Waves? I cant find any independent reviews or thoughts on them.

I have the 2020 Ezzy Wave 5.8 (5 baton) which I really like as I'm over 90kg and its particularly good in onshore winds...and durable as f*"k.

These new ones appear flatter so I presume less powerful. Plus the quiver Im looking at is 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0, these are all 4 baton so I want to make sure the power is there before I purchase. Also looking at the Goya Banzai's....

If you're thinking 4 batten, onshore and durable I'd say also look at Simmer Blacktip Legacies.

Might want to wait until the new Goya range comes out. I heard they are bringing out a 5 batten wave sail.

I wrote to them recently and they said that as the Banzai was so powerful they didnt bother making a 5 baton wave sail...

Goya's quote sounds like a classic marketing department reply. As far as I understand one increases the number of battens to gain sail stability at the cost of a weight increase of around 100-150 grams. The number of battens has little to do with the "power" of a sail.

Having used Ezzy sails for years now I can tell you that David's philosophy has always been to make small refinements each year rather than complete redesign. So I doubt that there will be a huge difference between 2020 and the 2021 wave. I have a 2020 wave and Elites from 2015 to 2019 and the differences between them all is subtle. Even if the new wave is cut flatter, it's still likely to be as powerful as any other wavesail on the market.

The only thing that makes me wonder if it may be significantly depowered is that they already have a 5 baton power wave in the Zeta and may want to widen the power/pull gap between the two sails. Just a thought, but like you I reckon it will be a marginal change.

Big Daz has the new ones but I don't think he has got them wet yet. I am positive he will post a great review here as soon as he used them.

I'm a recent convert to Ezzy sails and a massive fan now. I have a 2021 5mtr wave in my quiver of Ezzy sails. I can tune the 5mtr for foiling, blasting and wave it's super powerful with grunt but can switch the power off so well when not wanted.

I always thought ezzy's were a lot like my vacuum cleaner, has a boost power button. But the bloody thing is jammed on.

How does it compare with the others? Im hoping you have some Elites/Waves/ Zetas in there...?

Don't have Eli or Zeta just 4.2 wave 5mtr wave 5.7 Hydra sport and now have a 6.7 Hydra sport coming. I'm now mostly foiling now but occasional go for a play on my slapper .

Would have thought Ezzy would be a big seller in Oz but perhaps I'm wrong.

I replaced all my old ezzy se waves with Zeta ones. 4.2 5 5.8

Love them but hard to compare as the old ones were from various decades. They certainly last a long time. I did have a wave panther as well which I enjoyed.

Now foiling and like them for that. A huge wind range depending in how you rig them.

After I got shredded, I used my Ezzys again & started to dominate. They aren't for everyone, if you're weak or struggling with puberty maybe buy a Hot Sail or a kite.... but if you get bulky & become manly you will appreciate an Ezzy.

Saw your post, and I just registered to Seabreeze to respond to your question. Greetings from the Netherlands!
I have the Ezzy Wave '21 since April after I've changed them for my previous sails that I bought in 2020. It was a different brand and I didn't like the feel at all - way too much power for me. The shop gave me a good deal for the sails and could trade them for the Ezzy waves.

I really like the sails. They have so much control, stability, forgiveness and they do what you want to do. They're very easy to sail and awesom to trim. So easy! On the wave they never go completely neutral [that was the one thing I loved about my previous sails from that different brand]. There is always some power, but I don't experience that as a disadvantage by the way.

They also feel light, the only thing are the masts. They're quite heave compared to the 1kg masts of my previous brand.

The quality of the sails is amazing, but since you already have Ezzy you're familiar with it.

The test review of windsurfing.co.uk comes close to what my experiences. And it might also be helpful to read the reviews of Jeroensurf about the 2020 sails, here at this forum.

I absolutely fell in love with them. And as the saying goes 'they might not be for everyone', well...that's maybe true for the past - I would recommend Ezzy Wave to everyone!
