Have a fairly new chinook carbon wave boom, all good, except for the creaking/squeaking sounds it makes. This is normal, right? It's not about to explode?

Check screws that clamp boom head to arms, they do work themselves loose and allow movement

If my Maui Sails boom didn't creak I'd think something is wrong. It was slightly unnerving when I first used it initially [I think that's a tautology] but discovered the creaking was caused by the slight movement between the boom itself and the head.

I think it'll be fine unless of course it explodes

Try adjusting the clamping to make sure its not to tight or to loose moderate pressure should be adequate to prevent slippage.

otherwise check that the components aren't rubbing.

I haven't experienced this problem with any of my chinook carbon booms and I have 4 of them.

I have 53 year old knees that have been doing the same for years so I reckon it is normal .... but I'm a little concerned they will explode (again) one day

I've had x9 booms for years and they creaked near the head alot. But no breakages.
I've now have an 2013 enigma boom and no noises yet.
