Just got a new Chinook boom and couldn't figure out how to tie the sail clew and have found this "self-help" on their web site. 7 steps.

I have a 10+ years old boom which ties in 3-4 steps. Just pass the loop through the clew, then hook the loop on the tailpiece and pull...

Am I missing something obvious?

I have a couple of Chinook booms + a NP boom with the loop through system, once you get used to the chinook setup its easy and no hassle really, great booms!

You can't 'loop and go' with those backends because they are setup with three pulleys to use in an adjustable outhaul.

I don't rig mine like that diagram. I use the knot in the same place, but go through the sail's cringle, around the top right pulley, through the cringle again, and then the cleat, and wrapped around the pulley on the left and then tied around the boom arm to stop it flapping around.

It adds next to nothing to your rigging time.

Thanks for your reply guys. Used it yesterday as per the picture above without major dramas.
Next time around, I may try the alternative way as described above.
