Anybody out there using these boards apart from their now famous speed boards. was looking at their web site it looks like a good product and the prices are comparable to cobra factory boards

Looks like nobody has got one outside N Z so can't be any good and I still rekon their speed boards look like a streached version of my old naish hybrid

I had a 1/2hr ride of one of their waves boards a couple of years back and it was quite a nice piece of work to ride. It looked a very nice board as well.

Part of the reason CA is not known out in the market place to much s that it is all done through their shop or on the net, from what I gather they don't go through agents.

I would suggest having a look on some NZ sites and seeing what the Kiwis say, there'll be a lot more of them over there.

No one outside NZ, what about phil mcgain and chris lockwood?

They are a little more expensive than most cobra boards but you are guarenteed quality and a well constructed board. If you compare against more expensive boards it'd be carbon art would be a wise choice.

Their net distribution only sucks a bit, surely their sales are hindered by not having traditional sales network- that said they are making full profit on what they do sell.

I am using 1 of their 'famous speed boards'and i know you have read the CA review in the other forum so i wont go on about the 'speed' boards.
Chris Lockwood has several of these boards ranging from the 44cm and upwards,these boards are 'slalom' boards (although i consider them ALL to be 'speed' boards!)he is regulary reaching speeds, on a choppy swan river, in excess of 35knots and sometimes up to 40kn on his small slalom board!!!. as far as i know, he has not had any probs with either the speed/performance or the build quality of any of these boards, and he prob sails them as hard as anyone out there at punishing speeds over chop and the like.may be Chris can add further to comments on the slalom range. as for other boards carbon art manufacture, i can honestly say i dont think i have ever seen a wave or freestyle board here,but i would be surprised if there werent any wave boards floating around WA some where.I know they are abundant in kiwi land and have a big wave following as well so maybe some kiwi sailors can chime in??

i used to own a carbonart wave custom. wast a very hardcore board that only liked big waves. wasnt easy to sail and all my mates hated it. when i swaped it for a JP i realised it had been holding me back. The only place my boards went well was up at gnaraloo.
on the otherhand they are realy strong!! it coped so much abuse when i was learning to jump and soaked it all up easily.
The board wasnt custom for me but they should have some sweet shapes especialy since Phil joined the team.

I had one and really liked it. It went well on the waves and was really light and excellent for jumping. Only problem was that it snapped and didn't work as well in two pieces.

I would definately recommend them if your looking for a custom board.

The 2005 Fanatic I am riding at the moment is excellent but I think there shapes have gone backwards since the 2005 model. When it breaks I will seriously think about carbon art.

I notice in W.A a few of the top slalom racers use Carbon Art boards and are always in the first 5.
If possible I'll post what boards were used by the winners at Lancelin this weekend.

From what I've heard the McGain designed 55 and 70 are the pick of the slalom range. A Frenchman based in Sydney claimed he got a 39kn on his 55 about a month ago and he loves it.
Chris L uses his own design "speed" range of boards for slalom as well. He came 4th in the recent Aussie titles behind Peter Volwater (proto F2) and the 2 Jespers (both *board) but his lack of recent race practice (esp compared to the others) showed as he was behind in all the starts I saw. I believe he won't be going to Lancelin.
