With my husbands birthday coming up and not knowing a thing about windsurfing - I am looking for some advice on which camera to buy from those who have tried and tested!!!??? I have been looking at GoPro Hero3 black edition - any thoughts on this or should I be looking at something different?

Many thanks for your help

The Gopro Hero3 black is a winner. You can't go wrong with that one. The silvers are good too if you want to save a few bucks.

Love the name by the way.

+1 for the Hero3 black, cheaper ones out there but you get what you pay for.

If you get a GoPro consider how it will be mounted. Recently I bought a Flymount. I have not used it yet due to a lack of wind. However it looks like a versatile mounting system. It come with a GoPro adaptor.

GoPro is the way to go...except....you dont just buy a GoPro...u need to then purchase all the added extras you will need...different mounting options, memory card ( not supplied with unit), lcd view screen, floaty backpa****he list goes on...dont get me wrong I am not complaining coz I love mine but just thought you should be aware that you will generally need to buy more to set it up how you want it...

^^^GoPro and a flymount will cover it all, I've bought all the other crap and don't use it. The screen is good for framing your shots but a smart phone will do the same job...and most people already have one. You will need to buy or make a wrist strap for the remote though, for some reason the tight a$$es at GoPro thought after forking out $400 for a camera you should have to buy a strap to use the remote as intended???? And don't bother buying too big a memory card. My battery runs flat well before my memory card is ever full.

Sounds like I better pony up for a flymount.
