Anybodys have riding experience on these boards?

Hi, I, like EvlPanda (do search on freewave / freestylewave) have been looking at this board category. I've been looking for a couple of years, but have only just been able to afford buying one. I went for the Fanatic Freewave 95, after extensive research of mags, testimonials on this site, and websites around the world, but I'd have to say that the RRD FSW got pretty good reviews as well. In a few weeks (when mine arrives) hopefully I can comment further, but as I said I've put a lot of hours into research, I am replacing an old Fanatic board I've been extremely happy with, but definately check out the RRD, they get very good reviews as well.

Kan, where are you based ?
IMO a test ride is the surest way to decide on what works best for YOU
Of course this cannot always occur based on geographical locations.
Relying on info gleaned from test reviews can throw a few spanners into the mix.
It is an on-going debate regarding board test reviews and who is pushing who's banner... you scratch my back ect ect.

The main thing to look for in test reviews is an outline on the test riders themselves.. especially when it comes to size and weight AND the conditions tested in. How do these relate to you ?

To put it into perspective, compare a ford falcon to a holden commodore... brand loyalty aside they are both pretty similar vehicles.
But a test drive would highlight that one brands' seat goes further back than the other, providing greater leg room.
Not a real issue if you are under 6 foot.... but if you are over 6 foot it makes a big difference.
Now apply a similar process to your weight/size and the comparison between different boards and how it impacts on you.

Naish & JP give me more confidence in board performance.....
I want to make the best decision among the factors of ....$....durability....board weight....
Actually, I just the beginner of bump & jump....
Feeling of slalom can't no more satisfy me.....
In the meantime, RRD gives me the most attractive price......

I have been riding he Naish 90L FSW for a while now. It has been in the line for a few years now and is growing in popularity, proven shape so to speak. Hope this helps.

The beauty of any board, but especially the FSW category is that the boards behave very differently depending on which fin you are using.

I think, and correct me if wrong, but the JP FreeStyleWave has a relatively good top end. Certainly the charts hint at that: http://www.jp-australia.com/2009/index.php?id=52

I hope so, cause I just got a nice little slalom fin for mine for flatwater.

I don't think any of the boards you have mentioned Kan are bad, or even average. You'd be happy with any of them, although the RRD, again I think, is more of a turny, wave happy board.

Have to agree with the test conclusion about the FANATIC - definitely worth considering - got the 104 and love it from 4.7 - 6.4 very nice in small medium waves for a big board, and a great B&J board. the RRD 84 wave cult slots in perfectly when the 4.7 gets a handfull - Its a nice 2 board combo

Finally, I choose Naish fsw 90L.....
I'll touch my dream board in next week..... Naish Maui arrange DHL shipping....

I would just get the Naish 90L, that board is great. Even if you pay a little more at least you know you are getting a quality product.

Hi Kan,
I don't know where you are from, but would it not have been easier to get it from a local shop? You will have to pay tax on landing the board in Oz, and if it's damaged then you have another world of pain.
Shopping local usually means good service and support. I have always found this to be the case.
You might also find that "international" warranty is not as well respected as you might think. I'm sure a local shop will eventually get around to helping you out, but they will be more proactive if you bought it from them. Remember, warranty jobs do cost the shop time and money to sort out.
If you live along way from any retailers then I can understand why you would order direct.

Local dealer in HK is on vacational leave till the end of August.....
so I directly purcahsed the booard from Maui.....actually, I had a little bit of worry until the board arrived 1 week ago ( DHL 3 days ).....
Wind season at my site is from Sep to Apr......I bought Naish 90 to replace my old board Mistral screamer 95........
