Hi Guys ,
I'm just getting back into sailing again, and I've upgraded to newer sails ,just managed to break my X5 boom in the setting up stage[brittle from a few years of storage I think].
Mainly wondering who sells Aeron booms[if any] in SE Queensland

After reading a few posts on here I thought I'd consider the aeron as a good replacement ,Ive got a Chinook that only goes to 214cm ,so I need something that goes to over 220cm+[approx 180-240] to fit on my 7.8 North Ram.

I'm in the heavier weight range 98kg,but I'd prefer to stick with alloy[$$$] and if I break a few then I will justify the $1000 for a carbon one then. Maybe false economy but I'll chance it .
Will also consider other brands, if I can't find the aeron, may get a newer chinook - The latest one's appear lighter[strength/weight] than my older one which I've been happy with.

I'd appreciate anyone else's Advice on this as I've been out of sailing for a while ,and I'm not very familar with the latest gear.

Hi Jano, I've got the V-Grip 200 to 250 which I like and it is really stiff, and seems to have great build quality, some say they are a bit heavy. Any retailer that gets stuff from Auswind can supply you I think.........

......... or looks like Geoff can help you out, and he is a nice bloke too

Try windsurfingsales for their Gun Mono booms - excellent quality and a bit cheaper.

Alternatively windsurfnsnow stock Aeron and I'm pretty sure they courier stuff around the country.

Thanks for the advice Guys,
I ended up going for a severne Alu race 190-240
[I should have noticed the Auswind clearance sale add on this site before this]
Thanks Geoff

I like the idea of the 33mm back end over the 29mm or thinner on other some other brands,Should be a little stronger for a heavier guy like myself.

Now all I need is someone to arrange a 15-20 knot S/Easter for the end of next week and I'll be a very happy camper

Geoff beat me to it,but certainly can recommend the Severne. No problems so
far even after a couple of big get offs that would have bent other booms i
have owned.

Don't know about the Severne Alu Race but the Severne Blueline booms are apparently identical to std Aeron booms apart from the grip, according to Paul at 2nd Wind Perth (I just brought a 160-210 Blueline).
