At 2:21 you can see that the central fin is not centered on the head, but rather shifted forward. This was the case also in the 2018-2019 stb freewaves, and was a feature introduced to balance the easy spinout of those boards.
Then I wonder, why keeping this feature also for the 2020 version, which is a whole new board? Wouldn't it make sense to move the central fin box forward instead?

I have a 2017 Freewave STB and I corrected that with a custom PowerBox fin that was mounted as far forward as possible on the PB base...
Anyway, I don't like the new Freewaves, they have gone more towards Freeride vs Wave ( and that's what the tests are saying too), I am looking elsewhere for a new large wave board.

I really enjoy my 2017 stubby freewave. It has almost waveboard chops in the waves, especially in cross onshore crap. Marketing bs or not, it's still a brilliant board.

Totally agree, the FreeWave STB is great in the waves ( I liked that slippy slidey factor). It definitely wasn't marketing BS. I just think for the 2020 designs they went more traditional free ride and less wave. I'm all about the waves so looking elsewhere in the future.

The video is of me riding my STB 105 in light side-shore conditions. I am no epic shredder but the board works nice for a big freewave.

Agree with the 105 as a great fun ight wind wave board (82Kgs) as it seems to generate heaps of speed without a lot of effort (couldn't open the video link) - but it has limitations when it gets a bit hollower and can get a bit slidey on a BT when driven a bit hard or if its a bit lumpy - think its the wide tail. I Have a 112 quad and the 105 seems more balanced with the stubby shape

I'll give you an update you on the difference as I have a 2020 105 TE Free wave coming late this month .
