After hanging the 2016 Sprint up for it first rinse off ..I was thinking what a great sail ..it is so forgiving and smooth to gybe ..it does say to use a sdm ..but I'm using a 100% RDM naish fire stick .It just exhausts out the top so easy and you hardly notice it doing its thing .It has nice decron in the middle ,green and blue part .And the bottom 2 panels are a thick mono film,as thick as some of my wave sails .
It has nice Polynesian designs on it ..also the battens have nice patterns .the out haul is a simple but easy to use stainless ring ,which turned me to this one instead of the Noa ..as the Noa has a cut out with Velcro ..so if you do end on rocks your sail cops it not the boom .
It really is a very forgiving and fast freeride sail ..I'm thinking of getting the 6.4 now ...saving ....$

I took the 7.1 for a run on the JP Magic ride 118 this morning and I love it
well worth consideration if you want a freeride sail it planes early is light in the hands and is very fast and super steady draft at speed.
One thing I love is the locked in profile, almost race sail stability and easy gybe and instant acceleration. Sweet ride and totally worth consideration.

Super easy to rig without all the wrinkles in the mono window (as with other brands) so will last a long time...

Yep the sprint is back ..I have a 2009 8,0 sprint ..love it .
that s what made be buy this one ..they are so light in the hands .as you said
they do like to be down hauled ..but the low end grunt is awesome .

bring on the autumn breeze where ready .
I have been to tassie 3 times ..in August and November ..never had gear or wetsuit .but it blows good down there.
i have felt ice in the wind.you guys are tuff.

There is something about sailing in cold weather, it's so much fun getting home and having a nice cup of tea.

Tassie is such a wonderful place to sail and its actually not that cold just fun to have a blast with mates in winter.

If it's blowing ..that's all that matters ...
oh ...and so long as you have a sprint.

Hope Naish keep the SPRINT running in the Naish line up for 2017 I think the 7.1m is perfect for sailors looking for a light to high wind performance on a freeride or slalom board. This sail is almost as fast as race sails but has heaps of bottom end to get going and a gybe that is sooooo nice.

I think the Naish NOA is also very nice but the sprint is the powerhouse for early paining.

Just worth considering if you want to expand your current gear range in a very stable light and fun package that is not a massive sail.

Still keen to try the 6.4 in some real wind...

Hey Russ, I've got a 2013 7.9 Naish Rally (which must have been replaced by the sprint). With a 120 litre board, I can get going in really marginal conditions (sub 15 knots), and you can still jump and gybe the board OK. And no cams is so easy for rigging and gybing. Yeah, it would be a shame to lose the freeride sail from their fleet. Hopefully will continue. Think you need to convince Justin to get one.

Whats the weight of the 7.1 Sprint?

Its light..I'd have to drag the scales out ..but its lighter than my 7.0 T4 tushingham..
I feel it has the power of a lot bigger sail. its grunty .

sorry for the slow reply the 7.1 sprint ,,weight is 5.1 kgs

had a good session the other day ..it jumps well .in saying that ,its easy to handle when jumping..one pump and back on the plane again.with the high jumps .

I haven't had it in any real flat water yet ,to test how fast it really is ...its always been lumpy or ocean which I mostly sail in ,so its perfect for me ..as it is forgiving .

I was sailing with a guy who was 25 kg less than me Im 95 kg..he had a 6.5 on he just couldn't get going ..or couldn't catch me .....i was totally powered comfy ..14-17 knots ,,
as said before the low down grunt of this sail is cool .

I reckon if you want the speed no-cam machine go the Noa ..Im never in flat water ..so the sprint for me .still has good speed .

I agree with all your points


I think it also works well in the flat bay sailing because it keeps going in the light patches. It could possibly be not quite as fast. But in a one hour it would hold it's own because in would keep going when the noa could stop at times. if you want the Sprint to go very fast put it on a slalom board and it is very fast it is super stable in the gusts and winds up just fine for me .

Both top sails but the Sprint is a real world weekenders all-rounder

I just wish we had some wind to use mine.
