Way different shape from last years single thruster
Good to see a 20cm centre fin supplied. I have found other brands supplying 17cm fins with their thrusters, and find this too small for my poor technique.

Looks like a nice unit Westoz, must say I'm surprised you havent got it wet yet. .... Not even in Exmouth??????


without wanting to hijack the thread, but doesn't a thruster setup demand that all three fins are the same size.

Isnt the setup you have here, 1 large fin - 2 small fins, called a widowmaker?


I would have thought the best option for a board with a nice pintail like this would be to run it either as a quad or a single.

Did not arrive in time for Exmouth Grumps. But tried Dr. dave's up there and was impressed.
Not sure about the thruster/widow maker call, all brands selling windsurfing thrusters are supplying different size fins.
still liking the Tabou Pocket wid the MFC fins I got recently, but the JP seems to turn better.
Will try both in metro conditions and report back.
Now to get a couple of smaller slots so I can run Quad mode as well.

The dimensions seems to be the same for all four boards.

From JP's homepage - "Robby Swift, Jules Denel and Leon Jamaer were curious how a 2014 Single Thruster would work with a Quad setup. When trying the first prototypes they were blown away. So we went ahead and put them into production."

Still a board that I would not mind having, I liked the first single thruster quite a bit when I gave it a go in Jeri back in 2010.

They are the exact same shape as the 2014 Single Thruster but vastly different to the models previous to that. I've got a 2014 Single Thruster and we had a 2015 Thruster Quad in Maui. I can assure you they are the same other than the fin configuration. While in Maui I got some Maui Ultra Fin X-Tri fins for mine. All I can say is get some they are awesome. Made what was a brilliant board exceptional.

Maybe it's the weight, not so much the shape, but it definitely felt different from previous iterations.
A bit lighter in the tail now it's slot boxes, not US box.

Just tried this board on both the thruster and quad set-up in the same conditions (4.7, about 25-28 knots) and I think both work really well. Quite a different feel. The thruster is a bit looser, skatier, and faster, but maybe not as good upwind. The quad totally transformed the board. It made it more grippy, but somehow still loose, just more controlled, and I felt it had a better upwind ability. The quad set-up is my favourite, but with either set-up this is my favourite board yet - very versatile. I tried out the thruster in head high waves, and really enjoyed the loose feel, especially at the lip, but I reckon the quad will work really well in some bigger waves - hopefully get to try it out in some decent waves this weekend.
