Looking at the board's specs, I expected it to be good for stronger winds, still it was even more technical than I thought, here is my new test of the 2013 Fanatic TriWave board in 86L.

The QuadTE was much better all around in that year... Never liked the Triwave- even for B&J

Cabarete is a gusty, often choppy, side-on spot with a wind-shadowed side riding area.

Any board that doesn't plane well when off power becomes more technical.

The fanatic new wave single in 75L is a counter example where the board's ability to plane is excellent. How does the triwave differ so much?

I rode my dacurve and found it to plane much easier but the front foot wave riding was a bit stiffer. Its front rails are more parallel than on the triwave.

The triwave is really really good when the waves have a good kick and when the sail is powered up. I had some pretty massive jumps on it. But switch the power off or mild and the board becomes draggy.

At least dimensions and outline can us a visual cue.

The Quad TE had a very smooth continuous rocker where the Tri had more abrupt tail rocker.

+ the greater width.

Apparently the grip is great for all around except for here !
