Spied this pic on the Avanti site. Stealth Falcon ! Had a good article on Peter Voltwater's win as well as some good pics of the LOC 2012.

Is that a nose protector on the board and a reapir to the sail at the boom, he must have done a few over the handle bars!

I notice that the sail (Gaastra) has adopted the NP clew design.

haha turn the brightness up on your monitor, it must be a little dark living under that rock!

That's no Gaastra, and from memory Gaastra had the first enclosed clue, not pryde.

What brand sail is Pete Voldemorter using in waves?

yep thats a 2013 proto falcon.
avanti are developing some protos for the waves, impressive stuff, seems like north are using the same technology... reinforcing the sail in it's lofted form - magic!

Dont the new Isonics have some kind of layup pattern like that on the nose ?

The spot that looks like a repair is a viewing window.

North yacht sails are moulded one piece, Avanti are not.
North Windsurf made a moulded one piece race sail in the 80s, only one size, I think it was a 7 metre, it was too expensive, but very fast.

Are the load bearing yarns continuous across the entire sail body and not cut? I.e. batten pockets are sown on to the body of the sail rather than the cut into individual panels where the batten pockets make the join. I think it would loose some of the purpose of that 3DL technology otherwise.

I don't think anyone bar North make true one piece non cut sails which are both layed out and thermo formed in their 3D shape (for sure patent protected?). All other membrane sails are layed out flat, plotted by computer, cut, then sewn into shape so the fibres are as you say discontinuous.
