Hi Dani,

Yes the 2012 Falcon 89 is a very sweet board. I have only used it once in 35 knots with a 5.9m. Top end seems unlimited. Board handles well in the chop also. Very comfortable with good control. I found I could get away with a slightly smaller fin also, due to the extra lift I seemed to be able to generate from the board (less drag = more speed).

Not sure on the RRD, but two thumbs up on the Fanatic :)

Hi Dani,
Had the Falcon 89 out for the first time on the weekend and agree with Steve. Top end is very good(42knt) but it gets up early and the glass hull(carbon deck) is more comfortable in the chop than the full carbon used on the 113 and up. Gybes very nicely and securely in the chop as well. I used the board with a Vector Delta Weed 27 and evoIII 6.2 but have not used it yet with any upright fins.
This ones a keeper!

Hi Dani -i've had the RRD 90 V2 (no design changes in the V 4 ) for the past 12/12.
The board looks amazing & performs brilliantly .
I've used Evo 2 Evo3 6.2-7.8 with fins from 32 sting to 38 venom .
Have clocked 39 .2 on the dial & had a 35.5 NM so its fast .
Major personal issue is front foot on port tack has a tendency to slip out unexpectedly (usually in chop) -put my head through a new sail one day when this happened.
I've ridden similar sized I sonics -they seem to point up wind better than the RRD does .
The big plus in my mind is its gybing in rough water -it is so smooth .

Hope this helps,Cam

i have the 2011 Falcon 85, this board is saweet. the size increase from 85 to 89 in the new 2012 model is supposed to allow you to take a 7.8 as opposed to the 7.0. i have taken my 85 past 40 knots in WA. (only just though )

I've had the RRD 90 and rate it very highly. Great control and speed on the top end, Compared to an earlier Isonic 86 I had it also had a much better bottom end. I haven't ried the Falcoon but you can't go wrong with the RRD's.
I have taken it past Cervantes in WA ( only just though)

I also am interested in either one of these boards. Biggest problem is availability, have made dozens of phone calls nation wide to obtain either as I,m sure there wouldn't be much beween them.

It seeems that our retailers are just getting the scraps from Europe if they're lucky, quite a lengthy delay if I oder one I have been told.

Min 10 weeks.

Hi Chinaman.
I may have spoken with you on the phone about the 90s.
We do suffer from the seasonal differences between Europe & Australia, as well as the timing for the slalom/raceboard registration. We were lucky & managed to snaffle some of the boards that were earmarked for team riders, after Antione & Finnian had bagged theirs. If we're lucky we could get some more in 5 weeks.
I'll leave the review for the 90 to those who may be thought less biased than I could be, but I do concur with Darryl's comments completely.

Dying to try the new 98 though!!!!

Dani, I'm another RRD fan (certainly am now). I've gone from the 86 iso to the V4 90 and found the extra amount of volume is all that I need to carry me through the lulls. (My wetsuit seem to be shrinking each year)
I tried out the board the other day, with designs on just messing around with footstraps and dialling the whole rig in, and found that the board loves to be thrown into gybes and comes out planing. (first day out and I'm only 1.5 kn off my best gybe)
Also it handles the chop really well. Cam did say that his front foot came out of the front strap, but I didn't have any probs like that. Mind you, I do have my boom fairly low as short asses do.
v4 90, 6.6m koncept and 31cm weedie. 16 to 23 kn ese a good day out
cheers
