Just arrived today my 2011 Isonics 107 wood carbon and the W54. Decided this years biggest sail will be 7.8, so decided to go for a 107. Also wanted to be able to use this on a speed board, so the W54 looked like the go.

I have to say that theses are the best looking boards Starboard have put out to date. You just can't tell form the pictures on the Starboard website, how great they look. The first thing that stands out like dogs ('s) is the deep deck concaves. I dont think the pictures do them any justice, you have to see in the flesh!

The noses on both models are also noticably thin, and I think along with the deep deck concaves, help make these boards extremely light.

Hope to get both of these out on the water soon!

No mate, decided 107 will be big enough. With 3 and 3/4 kids, can't be arsed pissing about in 8-10 knots of wind. Still have the 8.6, but its going as soon as the new 7.8 RSSMIV arrives. Figure it should plane up early enough with that.

I think in QLD you just need a big speed board, so looking forward to sailing it with 7.8 and 7.0, its not often we get 6.0 weather here, esp on Golden Pond.

As nice as the old boards looked with the footpads being co-ordinated with the board's livery, at least the foot pads won't peel away at the seems of colour changes the old models regularly had a habit of doing.

Pretty bloody quick actually the 75 rides very similar to my last IS121, the 67 rides a lot more off the tail then the IS94 and is certainly a better combo with the 7m.

I sailed the 107 woodcarbon on the Sunday 11th Sept and it was a good 15-25knots, 7.8m sail and hadnt been on the water for 5 months,Hangover and it just ripped.

Compared to the 111 i previously had it just wanted to go hard and u had that feeling on just putting the foot down and head downwind.

Upwind this board ripped and many comments about me sailing it upwind and downwind just confirmed that this board was sick!

Acceleration was insane and so controllable. The mast track position is marked perfectly for you and it works straight out!

Was size fin & type did you use?

vector canefire g-10 42cm

It seems you could almost use slightly smaller fin than the 111, probably a 40.

Obviously you would lose the lightwind early planing but in a solid 20 knots a 40 should be sweeeet , but in most 107 conditions i would recommend a 42cm

I have found that my 09 IS 111 needs a larger or more powerful fin to make it trim nicely. Has this changed in the MY 11 with sharper rails?

i hope starboard have done there home work and aren't infringing any copyrite laws i like the look of the dromederry it has 2 back foot straps and maybe a tad flatter

I think you may be right. I decided to go for a Select S10 41cm. They quite a powerful slalom fin, so will post how it feeld when there is some wind, one day. I will tend to use this setup in lighter winds 13-20, so will be interesting to see how the 41 holds up.

I had mine out for the first time today. Used a 8.6 RSS and 41S10. Wind was very light. My session is here:

I have to agree the acceleration was great, esp for light winds. Loved the deep concaves, the board feels rock solid. I actually left my boom at its normal height bas SB reccomend to up it by 2cm, worked great for me. My favourite Isonic so far. The 7.8 on it will be awesome, cant wait!

Saw the 107 today and that is a serious concave in the deck. Nice looking board.

I think compared to the older models the feel is a lot more direct. It may well ride off the tail more as well, and glides over the chop with ease. Compared to a 122 it rides significantly smaller whilst retaining early planing qualities.

I put this quick first impression on SB site, thought I'd add here as well.

Managed to get a couple of iS107 wood session in, first impression are great.

I came from a 2008 iS111 so I was looking for a few big improvements since three years had past by, I am not disappointed, the iS107 has been improved in all areas.

So far, I have only used it with a 9m and a 41cm fin. But even when weighed down with a 9m race sail and a 100kg ridder, this board is comfortable. My old iS111 always felt like it would have been better with an 8.5m.

The iS107 takes off about the same as the old iS111. Gybing is about the same. Upwind about the same. Downwind speed is faster for sure.

The iS107 feels easier to sail at full throttle in choppy waters c/w my old iS111, I could not figure out why as yet, deck concave must aid control I guess, but I think there are other factores working here. The iS107 wood is not too physical to sail, maybe this because wood is much easier than carbon? My 137 carbon is more physical to sail c/w iS107 wood.

I feel that the iS107 is slightly faster than the iS111. Managed 33 knots peak speeds with a 9m/41cm in 15k to 20k winds during my first couple of sessions, with more speed to come. My old iS111 has had peaks at over 35 knots, but that was with smaller 7m and 8m sails, I think the iS107 will go slightly quicker.

The iS107 rides higher than the old iS111. I also feel that the iS107 will take a slightly smaller fin if you want top-end speed.

Thats a great top end with a 9m sail size. I agree that this 107/41 combo will work nicely from a 7.8m to a 9m. My impressions are that is should cruise nicely off the wind at anywhere between 30-35 knots without to much trouble, depending on the conditions.

Still waiting for another sail on it~

I've had my wood iSonic 107 for a few months now and am also loving it. Mainly use my Severne Reflex 7.8 with this board and 40cm C3 Venom or 40cm C3 Sting. Top speed so far is 35.76 knots, 2-sec Doppler (36+ on the dial) and that was with the 7.8 and the 40 Venom at the local bump-n-jump spot (not particularly flat). Board, rig and fin all feel great. This kit has replaced my iSonic 121 and Code Red 7.5.
