Had a blast on the new 8.2m H2 this morning. Rigged really well on an x9 mast, though the specs say x6 the x9 had a bit more life in it. Fiddled around getting the set up suited for me. Note to self: wider boom-shorter harness lines.
The sail looked really good with a nice pronounced deepish draught and smooth lines. Have to say at this stage that this sail is my next step up from the Hellcat, and was advised that the V8 may be too heavy for me. Maybe so but this particular sail felt light and manouverable especially in the stronger gusts. Wind today was between 12 and 20 kts and at no stage did I feel overpowered.
I was looking for a sail that would lock in the draught, rotate smoothly and make the most of marginal conditions and for my money I've found it.

wow didn't know they came out this early must be only the race sails that are on delay.any way looks the goods cant wait to get my new beast!.

I think they're around the 1200 mark, I traded my 2010 hellcat and bottom line for me was the change over figure, which is why WSP suits me. I did'nt even go into the shop. Now THAT can get dangerous

I am about to purchase a Hellcat due to i am "over cammed sails".

Am i doing the right thing buying one for flat and choppy water ? Just like to hear some feedback from others who had them

the Bigger hellcats are very nice - ie 6.0 and above.

i use both hellcats and Heliums and the hellcat is a lot lighter and much more comfortable ride in stronger conditions. Also very easy to gybe and rotate super easy. As the wind gets stonrger you just downhaul a little more and flatten the cat with some more outhaul and they useable in up to 30 knots.

I use the 6.7 in anything from 15 - 30 knots

i have a 5.2 but didnt really like the feel of it. the power distribution on he smaller ones just feels wrong. its center of power is too low for a small sail unless the winds are really nuking and then the smaller hellcat tends to backpower a bit . I changed to a 5.3 combat and found it a much more comfortable ride in stronger winds and a lot more forgiving in the holes.

I am looking at 7.7 or 8.2 i think the size is for the larger ones?

I have a bit of feed back and looks like i might go with them. Cant a fford the new season ones but last season there is some specials.

Apperently they are the same as the race sails without the cams?

i had a 7.7 Hellcat which I wasn't that keen on to be honest. I think in those larger sails you're much better off having a few cams. We have the 2010 H2's on Lord Howe and I just sailed the 7.2, 7.7 & 8.2 and found them great. For big sails they are still really light.
The power is a lot more controllable and stays in the one place, i found with 7.7 Hellcat, the power moved round a lot more and couldn't get the rig to feel comfortable.
I have a 5.7 Hellcat which I love so I spose I'm saying I reckon the smaller ones are better than the big ones - just to confuse the issue a little more!

I found that the Hellcats are great all rounders in constant wind, but in marginal gusty wind the H2 locks in the draught allowing you to make it to the next gust. Which is why I kept two Hellcats for summer and have ordered another H2 for stronger marginal wind, 6.7m.
Also the boom was playing a part in keeping the draught forward in the larger sails (7.7). The 160 boom was allowing the second batten to sit on the boom, moving the draught around in the gusts, whereas the 180-230 keeps it deep and allows the sail to fill properly. That was my logic anyway....

pepe that is a really good point. It's really important to be running these sails with the right boom. The 160 booms just don't cut it with these sails and you really notice the difference when you use a 180 - 230 with them.

Have you tried the Severne NCX....camless as well...i have the 6.5 and 7.5 Pro Edition and rate them highly....Dont feel as locked in as a cammed sail which to me the NCX feels better when blasting at high speed thru chop....well priced compared to other major brands as well.....!!!!!!!
