I now have a 6.0, a 5.0 and a 4.5.

The first thing you notice when you unroll them is the exceptional build quality and strength. There is no monofilm in these sails, it's all X-ply with a small vinyl window, which makes them very tough. The luff sleeve feels quite stiff and apparently won't rip if you break a mast -- something that has happened to me before with a different brand of sail.

These are no-nonsense sails, no special panels to make it look like flames are coming out of the mast foot, no silkscreened paint that will flake off and make your sails look like $h!# in a month's time, no weird stitching designs or silvery panels to make them look better. Just a "form follows function" approach to design, which I like.

When you rig the sail, you will notice that the battens have a huge amount of pre-shape in them, which gets taken out with large amounts of outhaul. Even for light wind sailing, you don't have to change the measurements much, with lots of down and outhaul the sail is still quite powerful.

Due to the high skin tension, the centre of effort of these sails stays rock solid in gusts, they don't get all backhanded and draggy like many other sails do.

The shape of the sail takes a bit of getting used to, the battens flip around fine without a pump on gybes and duck gybes, but I imagine that if you're a pro freestyler you won't get along with these sails. But if you're a back and forth blaster like me, you'll love how stable and powerful these sails are.

6.0 -- I first thought it was a bit too big, but after buying a wider board (56 cm) it feels fine. I refer to this sail as "The Truck". Now I'm planing quite a bit earlier than I was previously, and getting upwind when everyone else is slogging. 15-25 knots.

5.0 -- My favourite sail. Easy to throw around, plenty of power, great wind range. 18-30 knots.

4.5 -- I haven't had the conditions to really give this sail a workout yet, but it did feel a bit twitchy when underpowered. Probably because I'm not used to such a small sail. 25+ knots

I won't buy any other brand of sail now, these sails ROCK!

out of all the wave sails....ezzys look like they have double the draught of any sail,(almost like race sails!) even with heaps of downhaul...well the few i've seen rigged up....

do they ever flatten out???...or r they just a low to mid end powerhouse sail.

i'm gonna have to test urs out leecho... next time.

No, even with maximum outhaul they have a decent amount of forward profile.

I recently purchased a 5.8m '07 thinking it will be good for the lighter wind days. My sweet spot sail has been my '05 Ezzy.

So far I've pretty much just used the new 5.8m '07. The range is huge, when the wind picks up just crank on some more outhaul and the difference is quite noticeable. Even in overpowered conditions I don't feel pulled around as much I feel more locked in and can just ride through the gusts.

With these sails it is best to play around on the beach beach with them first as they are quite different to rig. Basically use the "swoosh" as your downhaul guide and then mess around with the outhaul. They take a lot more than you think.

Question about the ezzy's, are they purely designed to be rigged on RDM masts? or are they alright on a normal mast as well?

Website says they are okay on a SDM (but RDM is recommended), but i'd like to get the opinion of someone who might have tried them on both.

They work better on SDMs than any other modern wave sail I have tried.

But start saving your $ cos RDMs are just so good.

I've got 08's Windy and they dont flatten right out like the old ones but the range is huge My older 4.2 used to be a pig but the newer ones are great (Im 100kgs too!!). My only whinge (minor) is they are very plain but then again do the job better than most. I have been on Ezzy's for 5 years now and these are awesome. Highly recommended.

I use my Ezzy SE 5.0 2006 with SDM and works great! All the same good things the people talk about Ezzys with RDMs are true with SDM too.

Recently I bought a complete quiver (4.2, 5.0, 5.8) of SE 2008 and one 430 RDM to try if it is better yet than SDM.

thats good to know. atm i've got a 96L freestyle board, and a 5.9m sail, so I think when i get the chance i will round out the collection with a 70-80L waveboard and an ezzy 4.7 and a 5.2 :D. Either that or stick with norths, hehe, I think all the sails these days are pretty nice, thou another big selling point of ezzy's is how cheap they are, I think they are some of the cheapest sails around.

I know it's down to personal taste but I don't find them plain looking at all. The new 08's look even better. Makes a nice change to see them mixing it up in a crowd on NP sails :)

Best sails i've ever owned :D As most people say they are different to rig/use as they run a lot of pre shape compared to other sails which use the luff curve to create the depth. Super stable and super light in the hands once you rig them right and deadset bomb proof. As swoosh said they are also about the cheapest sails around which considering what they are, is nothing short of spectacular. Going to buy a few 08's soon :D

Sif trashed, they are mint! No doubt though, they have seen a few big sets in their time. That said they almost look like the day I bought them. And i'll be keeping them a while, no use replacing the whole lot, they are still basically new.

They don't need to. The draft is just so stable and there is a lot of twist in the top of the sail. This gives them better top end than many other sails around.
