eventually I wll get that road trip done. will just be in pieces instead of one go. and may take 10 years...

'Glamped' there last winter , awesome, great little cafe on site now too.
had some great Sups around to the NP,
'Pancake creek' up at Bustard head is the spot, bugger to get to though...
1770 itself in a NE works also( med high tide).

Justin, I lived in Gladstone in the mid 80s and sailed in the Boyne River Mouth and tannim sands. The guys I sailed with did an annual trip to Agnus. They said they sailed down the line wave riding in SE wind. I don't know the spot they sailed and often wondered wherever was. If you find it let me know. The forecast looks great.

anywhere along the main beach at agnes seems like it would be dtl.

i'm glamping near the point so that may have a wind shadow. not sure.

am taking my 10ft supsail and my freestyle wave board with a 5.8 and 5.3 so will have everything covered.

I wouldn't mind sailing there in a NE as well. could do a run right up the beach to 1770

Let me know how you go. I'll be sailing past there in mid October on my way back to Brisbane from the Whitsundays.I'll probably stop in at 1770.

no probs.

http://agneswaterfirstpoint.com.au/chalet-accommodation-agnes-water-beach-caravan-park.php

we're the furthest from the beach in the tree top chalets. (3 kids so need 5 beds)
if you have 4 you can book the breakers chalets which are overlooking the water and higher off the ground

only 2 of your the honeymoon chalet is right on the sand.

wish we could get closer to the sand but that's the way it goes.

on a side note i'm certain those chalet designs are in other caravan parks. gold coast somewhere i think has some. did a quick search but came up empty.

if you do a search for glamping you'll uncover a lot of options.

Here is a photo of beachfront Glamping at Agnes Water Caravan Park. I took the photo a couple of years ago. Have been to Agnes many times and its my favourite place to holiday in OZ, and I am a Victorian. 1770 is only a few kms up the road and is absolutely stunning. A great place to sail on a NE. Also a good place to SUP and sunsets are a must see.

totally agree cybersoak the swell was up while I was there. went out on the sup every day and put a 5.8 on it one day but the wind was just too light for wave sailing.

I managed to get out once by walking my gear out where the point is and uphauling. along the edge of the rocks in your photo. trying to launch off the beach didn't work. agnes is in a bit of a wind shadow in a SE and with the SE winds being fairly light there wasn't enough at the shoreline. once I got out the back everything was good. it would be a great spot for slalom sailing. in a NE wind you could sail all the way up to 1770 along the beach. I would have liked to try it in more wind as the SE wind seemed to run around the point and end up being cross off in close. probably would have been fine for the SE'r up at the surf club out of the wind shadow.

sunsets at seventeen seventy are stunning. went there for the day and checked out the bank. the water at 1770 was crystal clear and deep blue/green. not as clear at agnes with the swell running. the sandbank at 1770 looks like it would work very well in a NE wind. the current is strong so just a heads up about that.

tree restaurant at 1770 is the place to go for dinner and hanging out. got tonnes of photos which will upload once I've sorted through them, plenty of the speed bank at 1770 as well.

Richie it's worth stopping in there.

aus729, the glamping tents are air-conditioned, have unlimited hot water, full height fridge, sink etc. no need to take anything. linen supplied. we were in the ones back the farthest from the beach and still had a view of the ocean (T5). I could sit on the verandah and watch the wife catching waves on the sup. people running the park are very nice. just avoid the bustard restaurant at agnes. tree restaurant at 1770 is only 5 minutes up the road.

Thanks for the awesome pics. First went to Agnes over 20 years ago when you had about 80 ks of dirt road to get there. No shopping centre, no pub, just a servo and beach store. There was a guy selling land from an old caravan. Have been back several times, still a great place for a holiday.
