howdy, do you mean the sea side or the broadwate side?

I've only done the broadwater side, but a dead southerly is what is needed. If there are big swells in ocean at the time you get nice clean peeling wave in front of wavebreak island that u can get a few turns on as the swell comes in through the mouth - though it doesn't happen very often

alternatively you can sail from the spit to the grand hotel (across southern tip of wavebreak isle) which is popular with the slalomers

I think it'd be a bit of a cross country trek to get to the water, no? If you go all the way to the carpark and jetty etc. there are too many fn dogs. They're everywhere!!!

That whole strip from Spit to Burleigh (probably) works best on a nice, summer afternoon NE seabreeze.

I'm keen for Mirage or Narrowneck next seabreeze.

* edit: If you're talking about the ocean side. The broadwater side needs a Westerly.

Hello thanks for that

I am refering to the ocean side, on seaworld drive, there are plenty of car parks near the round-about.. sorry no pic's. Narrowneck has alway been messy everytime there is wind, and i am lookin for somewhere mellow so i will check it out next time, if its good and do-able i will post here.

I thought Seaworld too, but everybody said Mirage, so Mirage it is.

Actually ...there are going to be less swimmers south of the flags at Seaworld than south of the flags at Mirage. Far less. We usually end up south of the flags on a NE, right?

not a bad spot- super clean and more cross shore than the other spots further south. requires a fairly consistant NE seabreeze to work othwerwise can be a bit gusty with the wind not quite filling in. On a postive note, the next set of flags are a couple of hundred metres further south so there is ample room to sail. An alternative spot if it doesn't swing completely NE is out the front of the surf club at Mermaid Beach. Seems to work well there in a northerly / NE direction as EvilPanda can confirm.

Hello

Just some food for thought, I think we need to identify new windsurfing spots so more people will be aware of winsurfing. ie monkey see monkey do.. again this is just my random idea.

There's a shiny, new, big jetty at southport parklands now. If you were to drift downwind from "The Train" you'd be sailing past it ...and into a jet-ski zone. Why they put a jet-ski hire area at the end of the pier is beyond me. Would be quite tranquil otherwise.

That said a bit further downwind (as in south) from The Train is a pretty sweet spot anyways. Just out from the pool, not as far down as the jetty.

Hello

Just a quick report, was sailing near seaworld today few kiters about, NNE wind & no wave, the graph says green all avo but was not the case, maybe it requires very strong wind to work there. All in All an alternative place i recogn, maybe it will be good when there is some wave...

cheers
