After a bit of advice. Wind looks light sw today and tide is low so not much good on my shark board. Thinking of taking the Bic down to Manly and setting off somewhere like Wello and back. I sailed from Elanda to Boreen several times and it looks like the distance is about the same. I want to ask if this is folly or ok, I'm pretty competent in light to moderate winds on the Bic. Or is there a better destination and should I take safety gear like flares, lifeboat etc

If in doubt start from your downwind point & sail upwind to your destination. It seems to be more south turning NE so Manly start should be fine, you might get hammered by some big squalls though.

i sailed manly to wello on tuesday took got there fine but then the wind went terrible spent a while floating with the water past my knees then sitting on the board waiting for the wind to come back but if you wait long enough the wind always comes back. You will be fine , worst that happens is you float around untill you hit land or get rescued.
