Well, welcome back to windsurfing in big wind, had an equipement issue this arv whilst sailing at shearwater, before I could the problem fixed I was caught in a ripping outgoing tide, dang that water moves fast!

I was onto the self rescue when a boat came over, so bugger it I hitched a tow ride back to a beach. Fixed my kit and sailed back to the carpark.

Exhausted now!

Lesson learned, again in my life, when you get out and say thats it, do not go back in! That is when **** happens!

I've been caught with that so many times I now refuse to say the words "just one more run, then I'll head in" Always results in disaster.

what broke?

boom head let go, turned out that I adjusted the boom height before hitting the water for the second time, when I moved the boom, the rope must have slipped out of the holder a bit, it just went bang when I hit a jump, and boom become totally loose,I was trying to repair it in the water but the tide just kept flopping the sail over and over, I had no stability to try and fix it, every minute I was pulled another 50m plus to the south, I can see how kiters totally lose their boards!

yeah funny hey, I was looking at you guys, thinking,"maybe I should signal" but I wasnt too panicky, was getting a bit anxious about 500m away though! Its all good, I would have got back somehow, long walk to runaway bay from the spit though!

i had to leave for work at 3, but that was a thumper of a day. nice to see so many sailing again too

word of warning thou, i've seen two of the new np x6's break in less then 6 months from purchase. both cracked at the same place on the new hydroformed section on the front of the booms. one of the blokes is only 70kg so i think NP have got a serious design flaw or manufacturing issue with the hydroformed part. I'd make sure you check it before every sail.

that said, from what i've heard np have been very good about replacing them, thou it hardly fixes the underlying problem.

this is my first year using all Naish, I am putting it down to user stuff up.

ahh Ian, good to know I can count on you! Did you lose sight of my due to distance or poor eyesight?

maybe you should wear a bright red or yellow hat if you are going to persist with such behavior mal.

Thought about this a few times when I was getting my arms yanked out the front of Currumbin yesterday.
The gusts were brutal. Finally decided to come in during a 30+ kt squall, and then got stuck on the inside for a huge swim to Palmy.
I would have been grateful for a rescue, but the lifeguards there are used to letting us fend for ourselves.
Thinking about a quiet day in with the fugly sister today.
