a very VERY big thankyou to raydar for giving me most of the gear i need to get out on the water but im in need of a fin.
dose anyone have a spare fin lying around that would fit a Tiga 2.7 board or know where i could get one?
i may make one out of wood or something antil i can get some stronger just to get out there on the river but im worried it will snap, could always get the plastic shop to make one i supose.
im at tweed heads/coolangatta so if anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated.

the slot on the bottom side is 16cm long(measured on the flat plane with the board) while on the top its 12cm

Not sure if you're fully set up now but if you have problems with the TIGA board (which might be difficult to learn on, especially in the Tweed) and you can't afford more modern gear (which really would be better for you) then I have an older Bic board which might be a better board for you to learn on. It's wider and possibly more buoyant and stable than the TIGA but should go fast in the right hands as well. Comes with adjustable centreboard, adjustable mast track, two piece fibreglass mast, replacement (stainless) mast step fitting as well as all the original fittings including footstraps. No sail I'm afraid but I have added a European pin fitting to the mast step set up which will now fit a more modern mast extension as well.
The fin is the original so no need to mess about adapting anything. I also glued some rubber surfboard mat on to make up for the slippery deck and it works well.
You can have the lot for $100 if the TIGA doesn't work for you. I also have a more modern, 460cm, 25% carbon mast (two piece) which I'll throw in for an extra $50.
I live in Kingscliff so respond to this post if you're interested - maybe some of the other more experienced sailors who responded to your original post can let you know what they think of the board, price etc before you commit.

ditch that Tiga 270 and grab the Bic. It will be far far easier to learn on, and with that you will be far more likely to actually continue on with the sport than to give up in frustration.

I am sure others will agree.

grab the bic the tiga will tear you a new one.

Actually needs a Tiga fin Hairy, it's a bigger version of the Tuttle- very hard to find!

thankyou soo much for your replies, i "still" havent got the fin yet [}:)] but was going to try and get one today maybe from a local fin manufacturer.
but i think your all very right when you say i should grap the bic, thanks a mill for the offer dave as i think i'll take it up --> i really do need a daggerboard, dont i
the only thing is 460cm is not going to fit in the car, so i might have to buy some roof racks or get the trailer regersted.
that board would make alot of differance

hey guys, mums not too keen on the fin because we've gotta get roof racks and we are probally going to sell the petrol guzzler soon so theres not much point at this stage so im not so sure :(
any way a trip around the southen goldy made me realise 'im not going to get one of these fins' - so ive made one out of wood and i am going to install it today.
any suggestions - should i take to a ding repair shop and get them to fibier glass it
- i dint want to make a fancy fin as i thought it would weaken it
- maybe ill just use as it is and if the fin snaps then ill make another one and fiber glass it

Hi Sam

I'm guessing you mean your Mum isn't too keen on the Bic (rather than on the fin) which is fair enough

I can't help in terms of how to fit the fin but good luck anyway (just stay away from the mouth of the Tweed for your first few sails - maybe Cudgen Creek might be a better option (on the upstream side of the bridge there's a fairly wide spot if the wind is right)

year kingscliff would be a good place as its nice and shallow, just have be carefull not to crash into one of those oyster bommies. tommorrow the high wind might not be ideal for a beginner like myself but ill get out there all the same, i think i'll go to jack even's boat harbour just because it has sand, your right on about kennedy dr boat ramp - i could just kick it off the sand there and sail over to the weed beds were its shallow.

hey guys
ive been out twice now(on thurs and mon) at kennedy dr just learning to pull the sail up and get wind in it.
ive had 1 good chance at getting it going-> i got wind in the sail but for some reason the board turned vertical and I fell off.
is it best to pull the sail up in a gust?
i notice that as i pull the sail up the board changes direction and moves into the wind.
got some crazy blisters, can any1 recommend a kind of rope that dose not give you blisters- otherwise i may just have to use gloves.
"now" i really do want a larger board

If you want to take all the pain out of learning and keep this truly fun give SurfFX a call and enquire about a lesson.

They will supply you with the gear, and you may even her able to get them to run a lesson for you at Jack Evans harbour, or Currumbin estuary. This will give you all the pointers you need to take care of getting going.

Also, yes get the big board. It will be 50 times easier than the one you are trying to learn on.
