Hi Guy's I'm in Mackay for work at the moment and looking for advice on where best to sail slalom gear around Mackay considering the forecast for the weekend?? I will be self isolating on the water hopefully - Only so much one can do in a motel room...

G'day DarkHorse, welcome to paradise! I'll be sailing at Far Beach (a.k.a. Illawong Beach) Sat and Sun, expecting 15 knots Sat and a little less Sunday. It's pretty tidal which means flatter water than off, say, Harbour Beach for example. You can get at least 2 hours either side of high tide without too much of a walk. High tide Sat is around 11:45 and more neap than spring so should be good. I don't usually go out until after the tide turns to get tide against wind. Hope to see you there, will boost numbers by probably 33% assuming Troy sails as well.

Troy? Phil? You guys sailing on the weekend? Phil, you may have to carefully consider venturing to Far Beach, I heard a couple from Mackay got $1,300 fines for going for a drive to Finch Hatton Gorge last weekend to hike which was way out of their neighbourhood obviously.

Is it possible to windsurf off Lamberts Beach or Harbour Beach? - I'm trying to find a place I can sail on Sunday and or Monday bearing in mind it's low tide around mid day and I don't want to carry my gear km's across sand to the water...

Both are fine at low tide, maybe 50 metres or so extra walk on a really low tide.
If you drive about half way up east point road (or further if you have a 4wd), find a nice tree to set up under and you'll have a much better start point for SE than the northern end, particularly if its light.
Lamberts beach also has a really nice grassed area to rig up and good access.
I mainly use a 62cm fin in both these places without any problems.
Sunday morning looks good.

Northern end of Blacks beach, Eimeo or even north wall are other options.
