I remember when I started another wind sport, winter was a no go for beginners in Brissy. Actually I'm pretty sure most of the local schools stopped doing lessons until septemberish. (Westerlies and finicky wind)

So how does sailing compare? Anyone pick up a sail for the first time through the chilly period?

I'm a month or two away from financially being able to purchase my first kit. Just not sure if I should hold off or not.

Hi gumtree. Go for it mate. I and a few others did that last winter. You can read about it in the windsurfing learning curve thread. Was great.

Look forward to seeing you out there

Cheers

Hi Morgan!

I'm slowly making my way through your thread. Seeing you progress from post to post is putting a massive smile on my face.

Really looking forward to getting out there. No doubt will probably run into you at one stage or another.

yeah a lot of us sail right thru winter. no problems. Water fairly warm except for say 2 or 3 months. I have lightwind kit for those 10-15kt days we get a lot of in winter.
