Windfest 2015 was a success!!! No records broken but lots of PB's including mine!! For some reason Windfest and PB go hand in hand for most of us. Burrum heads is one of Queenslands best locations for watersports. We'll be back next year to celebrate 10 years Windfest!!! Woohoo

Burrum Windfest 2016 - '10th Birthday Celebration'

prelim dates.

Mon 7th March 2016 - Sat 12th March 2016.

Speed HQ is possibly moving to 'The Grand', which is situated on the esplanade further towards the boat ramp.

It is our intention for this coming event to push the hell out of it and encourage everyone to come. Help make our 10th birthday a big one. forget dwelling on the wind! come and make a holiday of it.

If you have thought over the past few years you'd like to come but haven't pushed the button then 2016 IS the year to do it!

the format is simple. longboard racing in the morning, speed/slalom racing in the afternoon and parties at night. we have boats on the water and a general area to sail depending on daily wind direction. it's mate against mate on the same stretch of water. turn up, strap on a gps and blast or battle it out on the race course against Australia best or do both!

Count me in, awesome event with great like-minded company, bring it on.

Count me in also, one of the best events in Australia by a long way, had a great time this year, thankyou Justin.

I was going to come and sail this year, but there wasn't enough wind forecast for my biggest gear.
Anyway, I had taken annual leave and ended up camping at Hervey Bay with the family. Never really been to the area so thought it would be good to go and have a look around. Got talking to a skipper of a whale watching boat, and he had never herd of Burrum Windfest....
I understand that only people interested in the sport would take notice of advertising etc. So just putting it out there, can more be done to promote the event outside the windsurfing circle?

bugger, you should have come up. we ended up with plenty of wind on the days it blew. the bom forecast was spot on even though a few of us didn't believe it.

simple answer is yes we could do more. i guess we will need to take out a newspaper ad. we've had channel 7 news slots most years. last year we had 3 broadcasts. But there does seem to be more that could be done in the weeks preceding the comp to spread the word.

I noticed that surf connect still have gt31 listed on their website. I haven't spoken with padi so don't know if it's an old ad or not.

I got a GT31 from surf connect only 2 months ago so i would say it is still valid

next year i'll come slinging a 70-200mm f2.8 and shots like that will also include the top of the sail!

almost hired one this year but at $350 decided to use what I had.
