They were here in big numbers last year, in fact off Manly they were so thick you could hardly see the water. I was wearing a bloody wetsuit to stop being stung. I hope they dissappear..........

I remember one day last year I launched from Manly and didn't dare gybe until I got to about 50 metres from Wello due to wall to wall jellies. Surely it can't get worse than that, can it

the flubbers dont really sting though - they are not a huge cause for anxt - some people come up with a rash but most dont - they dont have long tails but look and feel horrible. it is the much smaller blue ones invivible in the water with long tails that sting really bad, and can wrap around limbs feet etc - they can set off anaphalactic shock and be a big freaking problem - I think turtles eat the flubbers - not enough turtles!

I fell into a patch last year, stung all over even through my rash vest, one sting on my arm hurt more than the others and lasted a couple of hours. I ended up kneeling on my board for ten minutes until I drifted out of the swarm as I wasn't keen to water start in the middle of them.

I also fell into a swarm last year and discovered I get a nasty rash from the dam things.. Gotta stop falling in now cause the amount that I saw in the water last Sunday was scary - Thick and everywhere of Wynnum and Manly plus plenty up towards Wello... Bugger

I didn't think the big blue blubbers stung either. I was told that they carry a type of stinging sea lice on their tentacles(any marine biologists out there?)
