Hi all, I have heard there are a few sailors that either live in, or sail at, Tannum Sands. We are looking at the possibility of moving up there very soon. I must say that it is really a beautiful spot, just took the family up there for the weekend, and we had a great time, it looks like paradise, and friendly people to boot. Anyone on here from Boyne Is or Tannum, or sail there? Would love to hear any advice on locations / conditions, etc you have to offer :) Cheers

I sailed there in the mid 1980s. Mainly in the Boyne river mouth and in the surf, just south of the Tannum Sands SLSC. Its a great spot.

Mark Richardson is a GPS sailor who still sails regularly in the Boyne river mouth.

Sailed there in the 80's and 90's. Boyne/Tannum is a great place to windsurf, there was quite a crew back in those days. Smallish cross-on wave sailing conditions at Tannum in summer. Can also be good for wave jumping at the banks of the river mouth, and smooth water speed sailing inside the river mouth. Also some nearby islands to sail to. If you want bigger waves, try Agnes Waters, and Wreck Rocks to the south.

Thanks John, that is really good to know that someone sails there these days. I guess there aren't any crocs in the river then...

Great info Azuli, and fantastic photo! Variety of sailing conditions sounds awesome, I haven't sailed 'full' wave yet, so I will have to work up to that. thanks very much mate

Always good to have another sailor on the water, there are sometimes half a dozen of us out on a good day. No crocs, lots of turtles though in the river mouth. Send me an email when you get here and I can show you around

wasnt profoundly keen in sailing a new area by myself. So good to know that there is a crew fellow sailors up there! Cheers mate
