Those readings are taken at the Port Mac airstrip. I'm pretty sure the aircraft take off right in front of the wind gauge
Seriously, we have limited spots (especially flatwater) around this part of the coast, and those we do sail
are the windiest sailing locations. I sail the open sea most of the time, and a more accurate report the past 4 months or so would be 4 or 6 days over 15 knots, and the magority being 4-10 knots with a sprinkling of 8-14's. Today is typicle- Coffs now (9.45 am) showing 11-14 knots from the north. Port now- 0 At SWRs now on the beach- 3-6 knots tops

The sunshine coast looks like WA compared to here lately. My most used sail in the last 4 to 5 months has been a 7.4. and I'm a light weight...
PS- Don't take notice off the Coffs forcast. It's taken from the roof of a car driving down a wind tunnel.
