Morning All,

Got a BBQ scheduled for Saturday at Shorncliffe (near the pier?) and want to know if its worth bolting early to squeeze in a few hours on the kit.

Not expecting anything over the top, just enough to push my Start 150 board and 5.7 sail around whilst giving the kids a little taste.

Normally do Bells beach up and around to Suttons, I'm just trying to avoid unpacking, sailing somewhere else, pack up and moving for usual yard arm drinks.

I think you have to sail out of Cabbage Tree Creek as most of the beaches over there are very shallow. Might have to walk out 500m to get enough water for your fin - depending on tide.

If your right near the pier it's ok, pretty deep water between the pier and the rock wall. Nice flat water so it will be great for the kids too... High tides this Saturday make a lunchtime sail worth the effort!!

The chanel is deep and only really works in a SE. If its high tide you may be able to sail out of the chanel. Oh and by the way, dont spend to much time in the water

Haggar, I take it the reference is to sharky water? Jetski's at Bells Vs Shorncliffe? Hmmmmm.

Worst case scenario is I end up at Bells and drive around afterwards...

Those freaking jetskis have ruined that place. I used to sail my little boat out of that ramp - was nice for a quiet afternoon sail. The amount of jetski traffic and general yobbo-ness stuffed it right up.

It's that minority vs majority rule again.

Wifey and I had jetski's when we lived on Bribie and could never understand the "Gotta stay close to Shore, people gotta see me" metality. We'd pop down motor into the middle of the passage and either go north or south... anywhere away from people and other craft.

Did the Whitsunday's, Straddie, around Bribie runs, Did Manly to Moreton with support, Noosa through to Borren Point... never had a problem. Took our camping stuff a couple of times and regularly attached eski and rods to the back. Good times.

Goldie, redcliffe, Caloundra and Noosa Bar always off limits. Didn't want to crowds or attention.

13,500 kms of Queensland coastline... it's dead easy to find a spot away from everyone...

Think I'll chance Shorncliffe and sharkeys...

Sandgate could be a consideration too mate. It has great BBQ area, toilet, shower. Park right next to the beach. Great to bring your family for a picnic while you go wind or kitesurfing! Kids can also play in shallow water, no rocks/reefs, or if they prefer go to the swimming pool right on the beach. However you got to time it right with windsurfing as it gets very shallow and the tide goes a fair way out. Best to come 2 hours b4 high tide n you'll have plenty of water and wont have to walk a mile back with your gear. Have fun!
