Anyone getting out tomorrow early afternoon on their raceboards? I will probably head down with the used mistral I picked up from Simon and I am keen to see how it goes against the phantoms...

I'll be down at RQ. Is Bayside having a raceboard day tomorrow? If not, come and sail as a guest at RQ. Should be a good day for it.

Jaime, that sounds great, I'd like to see the facilities there. I don't think any Bayside club racing is on today. What's the best way and time for me to turn up at RQ and get in as a guest today?

I might be able to come up. What time does the race start?

The races start at 1.30pm. Most of the windsurfers get there around 11.30 or so to rig up.

To get in just pull up out the front and duck into reception and tell them you are here to try racing as a casual, they will give you a pin code to get in and out for the day.

Looking like it will be a good day

Man with a windsurfing shop and no sail?! Too bad Simon, the wind was great for race boards.

Good roll up today at RQYS for course racing with 15 sailboards.
We had:
6 RS:Xs
6 Techno 293s
1 Div 2 board
1 Raceboard
1 Formula board
Race 1 was held in 12-15 knots SE with the RS:Xs and Techno 293s planning to windward on the centre boards.
In Race 2 the wind lightened off and swung quite a bit to East.

Yep, I was mostly reaching in and out of rose bay. Looks like you guys were having a good time but could have had a couple more knots. I sailed out of RQYS to join the racing but dont have sail numbers yet also a bit cautious just getting the feel of the board for the first time in proper wind. The old mistral pan am (approx 2001) it went nicely and although I only had a 7.5 on managed to get some great runs in the decent gusts. Cant wait to see how it goes against the more modern phantom. Got to remember to kick the centre board all the way up going into a high speed jibe. Any of it down and it just throws the board over and your swimming!

That *was* a very nice looking Severne...

Good to see such a strong turnout. Especially nice to have a couple more raceboards. The RSX's are great competitors, but the performance curve is quite different so it tends to come down to conditions. Ditto for formula - Cam was smoking when the breeze was up, but it was sad panda time once the bottom dropped out of the south-easterly.

BTW, the RS D2 is a raceboard, not a Div 2. Compared to a Div 2 it's shorter, flatter, carries a bunch more sail and is a whole lot easier.

I haven't sailed at RQ for a while but what was nice to see was all the juniors and young guys in the many classes. A big difference was how many girls are sailing now. Especially good to see the young guys and girls in the Techno and RSX too.
They will be totally dominating soon enough.
