Can anyone tell me where to sail in and around the Brisbane area and in what breeze is the best at that location.

I know Wellington Point is good for NE behind the sand bar (low tide) and Manly is good in a SE..

What about Redcliffe? Is it any good? What sort of bottom (mud or sand) and in what wind?

I am an intermediate sailer.

Please correct me if I am wrong?

Redcliffe, queens beach is a great place to sail. Slightly more challenging at times then other places on the bay (at least it is for me). It's not really effected by tide over than a moderate shore dump. Low tide exposes some small rocks at either end of the beach but not much in the middle. Best Winds are NE TO SE. If its ne be carefull of the reef that runs out on the right hand side( lost many a fin there) I wouldn't normally sail there in anything under a good 15knots. It's quite choppy and when the wind gets up you get some great wind driven swell running through especially in a southerly buster, makes for awesome jumping and gybing on swell is alot of fun. Great place to sail before you venture into waves I guess. Really great crew of windsurfers there too which makes it very social.

From North to South of Bayside Locations:

Wynnum, Windiest in a NE seabreeze (especially the weaker ones), best at high tide, bit of a trek to the water at low tide. Don't really see people sail here in other wind directions. No real facilities to speak of, but nice grass to rig on. Launch here: goo.gl/maps/JSZop

Manly, Not as windy as Wynnum in a NE seabreeze, and not as windy as Wello in a SE (especially if it has a lot of south in it). Good all round spot thou, and works in most wind directions (except W) and any tide. Also no real facilities to speak of, but good grass to rig on. Fish and Chip shop has a pretty awesome feed of potato gems for $2.50. Launch here: goo.gl/maps/4yxn3 just walk down the stairs with your gear. Other option is to launch in the little bay just north "Rose Bay" goo.gl/maps/7f3zY good if you aren't comfortable walking down the stairs on the side of the rocks, but bit of a trek at low tide.

Wello, Works in pretty much any wind direction, however best at high tide, bit of a trek to the water at low tide. At high tide depending on the wind direction, there is super flat water behind the sand bank. Has plenty of grass to rig on, as well as showers and toilets. Can get super packed with day trippers on nice days, so get there early of you might not be able to find a park. Have seen plenty of people get fines for parking on the grass and outside of designated parking spots. Sail here: goo.gl/maps/ilRHT

Victoria Point, Haven't sailed much here, but by all reports is the windiest spot in a SE. Bit of a walk at low tide to get to the water, but at least it's pretty sandy and not muddy like other spots. Sail from here: goo.gl/maps/01ZDK

I have been to Wello previously but parking was painful and I have heard about the tickets too. Hopefully the council get their '****' sorted soon.

Hopefully will get to meet some of you guys at some stage in the near future.

I like the idea of sand and not mud! I suppose booties are a must on most of these locations??
