Haven't been to Redcliffe for a windsurf before, what do I need to know about scotts point? And is anyone heading into the water tomorrow morning 13 June?

Watch out for rocks.

Brett we all usually sail at Queens beach and if very South breeze then Sutton's. I haven't sailed at Scotts for many years and can't really remember where the rocks are particularly since they they have redone the foreshore. Still I've had some great sessions there. Cant sail tomorrow otherwise I'd join you.

The times I have sailed there this year I rig on the grass just north of The Red Dolphin, carry my gear down the concrete 'stairs' then launch just south of the storm water drain. There are a couple of large rocks in the vicinity. As the tide gets lower take more care. If you are pointing out towards the 2 red and 2 green buoys then dont sail within 50m of the southren side, these rocks become exposed at low tide. After this obstacle you are in open water.

Your best bet is to go for a look on a clear winters day and any rocks are very obvious from the shore line. From the grassed area north... no rocks. Grass area... some rocks, south... more rocks!

Scott's a great place to improve your sailing, watch out for the reef, (red & green cans) at low tide, but that's about it. I lived behind the Red Dolphin for three years or so and really enjoyed failing there with friends. Great place to improve your sailing. It works a little differently to Queens.

Agree with all of the above. I still rate Scotts' point a great place to sail when the wind is too south for Queens. I know the rocks from paddling around on my SUP. Set up on the grass just north of the Red Dolphin and launch straight in front. Once past the boat buoys there's no problem. Also a faster drive home to Brisbane if time pressured (aren't we all?).

Thanks for all your help guys, ended up going to Suttons beach. turns out theres rocks there as well lol. But the wind was quite good and strong. Since its been 5-6 years since I've windsurfed, I'm quite rusty, more than I thought I would be. Still had a great time failing water starts like when I was just a kid.

Had to throw out my old favourite board, was all full of delaminated fibreglass=splinters but the Sputnik seems to go alright though very small for me.

I'll have to keep my eye out on here for where people are windsurfing on what day so I can get some pointers.
