Hi everyone
The forecast is looking great for the weekend so we have decided we are going to hold our first QLD freewave event for the year!
The venue: Currumbin Alley
Date: this Sunday
1st December
Meeting time is anytime from 10am in the car park
We (Kate, will, Kirk) will be with t-shirts and membership forms if you wish to sign up on the day.
The format is very casual free sailing with some small prizes and a BBQ at the end of the day.
So bring yourselves, family and friends down for the day, as well as all your windsurfing gear, SUPs and surfboards just in case!
Looking forward to seeing everyone there

Was a bit hit and miss at the 'Bin today, but still good to get a few off the beach with the boyz.
Although the Alley seemed a little fluky to sail, the irrepressible Pete Myers was absolutely wailing along the end section after opting to rig a 5.3m on his SUP.
Reckon tomorrow could be heaps of fun and look forward to seeing you there...
PS: Moral of the day? Bring all your toys!

Had a great time at Currumbin with the family and the Qld FW Association today. The wind turned on and the sun came out for a great day of sailing in a magic spot. Thanks guys for organising it all and for the nice hot dog for the road. It is a spectacular aspect of the sport and it was great to see the awesome skills of the wave crew.

Yes indeed, that was fun!
Sincere thanks to Kate and Will for organising the event, Luke and Martin for manning the bbq, and every single one of the 30 of you who helped make it such a memorable day.
Already looking forward to the next one!

Yep, was a great day. Lots of carnage on the back beach and wind from about 11 onwards with a few guys braving the crowds of beginner surfers in the alley as well.

I've never seen so many windsurfers in the waves on the Gold Coast! Heaps of tourists stopping on the beach for a look.

Got another good sail today in the Alley with not as many surfers/kites/paddleboarders/kayaks etc in the water.

Thanks to all the organisers.

"I've never seen so many windsurfers in the waves on the Gold Coast! Heaps of tourists stopping on the beach for a look".

I was watching this as well and I am also getting people approaching me on how to get into the sport again as ex sailors and even new people wanting to make a start. I still always expect that they have just mistaken windsurfing for kitesurfing but they are really keen to windsurf.

Anyone else get the feeling the sport is gaining momentum...
