We have a week at Port Douglas at the end of September, any chance of wind at that time? Worth taking the sailing gear?

We went to Port Douglas in January this year and loved the tropical breezes, the reef, lazing in the pool with a cold drink etc.
But I took this photo on the main beach; there didn't seem to many takers for the local kitesurfing school.
Have fun but maybe leave the sailing gear behind..

End of September is near the end of our season so yes there is a small chance, at the moment it's been very windy for here for a good week or so but will drop off early next week, a bit of luck it should cycle back while you're here. October is normally no wind but then we have had epic days that month, just keep an eye on forecast and if lugging gear not a problem you'd be mad to leave at home but hey no promises There are a few local windsurfers in Port.

If you can do a visit to Green Island out of Cairns, they have good hire gear, do it if wind around !!!

Kirgo, January is the middle of our off season so little chance of wind, best for trips to the reef.

Don't worry about crocs, they're around but never been a problem for windsurfers or tea baggers.

Yep, what Firiebob said. AND Go to Green island and hire the gear over there. Crocs keep the crowds away Its a local scam.

I spent some time in Port Douglas/Cairns area...was always nice to see a croc sunning himself on top of the inflatable tube surrounding the safe swim enclosure.....

Ok if we're going to talk crocs, here's a little news item on the creek between Yorkey's and Holloways, both popular windsurfing or tea bagging areas
