Cleveland Yacht Club will once again host the iconic Peel Island Marathon, on Sunday 22 April 2018. Typically, the fleet is dominated by high performance catamarans and skiffs, however in 2017, Bayside Sailboard Club's Formula Windsurfing maestro Leo Sharpe, took line honours beating home a foiling A-Class catamaran.

This season, the catamaran crowd are determined to regain their beloved title and are already preparing to ensure that they outpace the windsurfers in 2018. Bring your Raceboard, Formula, Foilboard, Div II, Techno 293 .... whatever kit you have that can go upwind.

Do 2 laps (1 lap for those with a 7.8m sail or smaller) around Peel and tick off your bucket list. Registration from 8am, briefing at 9am and 11:00am indicative start time. CYC have posted the NOR and SI ... www.cyc.asn.au ... the SI will be updated in the coming days to include windsurfers.

It is a great event - don't miss it!

Hey guys ive never raced. But am keen to give it a razz. What distance roughly is 2 laps of Peel Is? What other requirements to race? Insurance etc?

Roughly 20km's per lap - so 40 km's for two laps. You just need to be a member of a club affiliated with WQ.

This iconic event is on Sun 22 Apr ... just before Burrum Windfest, so it could be a great warm-up.

The organisers have asked WQ for indicative numbers of windsurfers .... pm me if you are highly likely to enter.
