everywhere is better than golden beach.

jokes aside,

it's very similar,

it has a roaring current, is a short run and the wind can be very gusty. unlike caloundra it gets wind though.

Anything south or a little sw gets the wind nice there, it seems to hit the sides of the high rises and funnels along the beach road, almost anywhere is gusty unless the wind is coming straight off the oceanSE/NE. Some locals dont like it because the rigging and launching area is poor(small) and no washing facilities. I have had amazing days there when nothing at the train 500m away, its all about the wind angle, Shearwater is the same can be 10/15knts more than the train. Yes the tide is strong just dont fall off or learn quickly or sail when the tide is coming in.Sonic
