Hi All,
I have attached the new WQ logo below. The old one was still pretty cool in a classic sort of way but we had no viable electronic versions of it so we decided it would be good to have a fresh one and Simon Tribe generously donated his time and considerable skills in graphic design to developing it for us.
Simon is also helping WQ to re-evaluate its role as the governing body of the sport in Queensland and helping us isolate the demographic we currently attract in the sport and along with Bayside Sailboard Club working toward ways to attract new participants in that current demographic and also younger people who we seem to be missing out on.
The logo is a start but we also aim to build on the awesome site that Chris Thompson kindly built for us and make this site more suitable to anyone coming into the sport fresh. The whole point of all of this is to try and increase the popularity of the sport so we can all benefit from the resulting interest from shops and clubs. (which means more events, better deals on gear and better re-sale of old gear).
Also I will be looking into a way of changing the way I make posts on this forum as there has been some confusion recently regarding what my personal views are regarding the sport and what my views from a WQ perspective are. I will ask Laurrie from Seabreeze how I can have a personal avatar for general comments and a WQ avatar for views of WQ. The personal views will be full of rubbish as usual but the WQ views will be as diplomatic as I know how to be and focused on the governance and promotion of the sport in Queensland. I won't always get this right but you can bet I will have thought the post through and it will have windsurfing and the protection of its participants and the people good enough to get involved and organise events as the foremost consideration.
This probably won't be a fast process but I will keep everyone in the loop as we make progress.
All the best
Scot Farley (President Windsurfing Queensland)
