Hi Guys, as you know Bayside Sailboard club has been talking with Matt to get him to head down under and run a clinic for us. Well i am pleased to say that we have firmed up a date and some there-a-bouts costing.

The clinic will be a 3 day one and is planned for december 3/4/5. it seemed that most feedback by club members was for a 3 day clinic with as little time off work as possible. Now Matt will be over here for about 2 weeks hanging out, sailing, seeing the sights and so on. So there may be the opportunity for some lucky few to have some one on one or small group time with him. But this would have to be organised independently.

Cost - this clinic will cost $150-$200 per head. We are trying to do some deals on rashies and what we will do about lunches etc, as well as discounts for BSC members and so on. So if you are interested then budget this much.

Gear - this will be a strictly bring your own gear clinic.

Location - yet to be confirmed.

Content - Matt has planned to base this clinic on his freeride/freestyle clinics that he runs in mexico. There will be some flexibility as to the exact content is based on what the expectations of the group are - yes if you want to loop - he will make you loop!!!!! Just pack the brass ones and be ready Generally there will be land trainer sessions, video anaylsis (if possible), as well as on the water training.

Numbers - we will be limiting numbers to 25, and this will be simply a first come first in basis. The only way to guarantee your spot will be to register and pay your money. Now i have a list of people who have shown interest, which is great. The purpose of this email is to notify those that may have missed our initial post, as well as informing the masses of what the club is up to.

We expect to have all systems in place to take bookings in the next 3 weeks.

Thanks to those that have expressed interest, and i look forward to seeing you at this first of hopefully many future events.

Is this clinic for Medium to advanced?

For all abilities, the clinic is really focussed at improving your sailing, whether it be nailing carve jibes, slalom step jibes, short board tacks, chop hops to your first forward. As well as basic freestyle moves and so on. I have the outline, but it is still being worked out by Matt. Having been to his clinics in Mexico - it really does not matter your level, you will come away with something.

At the moment i am thinking that we will run this up at queens. It's not tide affected and is a good venue for a large group. Of course if forecasts, and conditions change then we are flexible.

I was talking to matt only yesterday and he is over the moon at the number of guys interested.

I'm quite keen, as I tried to get lessons with Matt in Maui, but he was out of town.
LIke always, there is trepidation about conditions. I probably pony up anyway.
It's a great initiative and it's worth supporting on that basis alone.
I sent in an Ex of Interest originally. Do I need to do that again, or am I on a list ?

You,re on the list. What i will be doing is sending an email to all that have contacted me, with the finalised registration, and what we are including. These people get first dibs on a spot. Regardless of forecast we are going ahead with the clinic, matt uses a lot of land trainer sessions in these bigger group clinics, which from experience help with footwork and working out where you're meant to be on the board. So if the wind is light and so-on you will still be doing some work.

I know that you will get a lot out of it regardless of the conditions.

Hope to have the registrations out lat next week.

FYI - we are chasing up dakine to get some rash shirts - all screened up with Pritchard windsurfing, and we plan to include lunch and drinks in the package for the 3 days. There are also manuals included.

And if the clinic goes well - we may look to replicate it in maui, and take over a group of first timers to maui to experience it's windsurfing glory.

Yes, I have seen some stuff about it ages ago.
Maui had great wind, but no waves worth speaking of.
Nice winter get-away though. Not much happening here in June.

I don't really have a bucket list though. Do I need a bucket ??

Its a bit premature - but i've been in talks with matt about replicating this clinic in maui, if there is the interest. We would take care of everything from accom, gear hire, lessons, transport the whole shebang.

Very nearly.
I agree that the wind in Maui is pretty clockwork. The water conditions were a bit ordinary while I was there though. Very flat, without being speed strip flat. Sod all waves, just lots of vicious chop. It is a very nice place to go though, and I'm not knocking it, especially in our winter.
Autumn in south-east to central Qld is very reliable though, with a lot more waves. This year was crap, but I feel this next season will not be.
