Local makes Australian Youth Sailing Team

Lara O'Brien (windsurfing course racer from RQYS) has won selection to the 2014 Australian Sailing Youth Team. She will contest the 44th edition of the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship in Portugal this July, sailing on the RS:X Olympic Sailboard in the female windsurfing class.

Yachting Australia officially endorsed the team on 14 February 2014.

The ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship will see sailors under the age of 19 from around the world descend on Tavira in Portugal to compete in eight events with Australia represented in each, it's the largest youth sailing regatta in the world and in 2013 350 sailors from 61 nations competed in the event.

Congratulation Lara, you are an inspiration. I still can't believe how someone so slight can manhandle those enormous sails even in heavy conditions, moreover you always have a great big smile on your face while you are out there doing battle.
