Does anyone know someone that can give a few lessons, or someone that knows how just take me out for a couple hours and I can compensate?

fnq is pretty big,if you are in townsville it can be arranged.

If you are in Cairns you can go to Green Island and see Toody he does lessons over there with beginner gear (paid) probably best to give him a call to arrange
