Hi Cammd is the learn to windsurf running this Saturday, if so what are the times and cost for two 9 year olds. Do they need to join the RQYS club. Also do you have sails smaller than the 3.0 mentioned at the start of this post.
thanks Derek

Hi Derek

Yes learn to windsurf is on at 9.00 am on Saturday. We have one 1.5 mtr rig. The setup for juniors was compulsory club membership in order to participate. Reason being it worked out at $17.00 per month to be a member and learning to windsurf is at no charge to members. The club generously offered to make that membership subject to cancelation at any time with no attached fee or outstanding balance to pay.

So if.you only want to attend one session the answer is yes they will need to become club members for at least one month and it will cost $17.00 dollars each. Still good value in my opinion, hope to see you there.

Cheers Cameron

So for $17.00 you get four weeks (or four sessions). $4.25 per lesson, that's fantastic !

Hi Cam,

I am very keen to come along. I used to windsurf in Cairns on flat waters/lake about 15 years ago but recently bought a 2nd hand kit to get back into the sport in Brisbane. Can I bring my kit and start learning again this Sat if conditions are good?

Its a pretty useful tool, pictures above of max teaching kids a self rescue technique, later in the day they had a self rescue race paddling around a mark with the rig layed on the back of the board.

He also used it to teach the more advanced kids some fast gybing and tacking techniques on land that they later applied on the water. Pretty cool, the kids just absorb it all and go and do it.

Welcome to bring your own gear, at the moment we are.mostly focused on the basics but we are working on developing some 6 or 8 week courses that will be suited to different levels and we hope.to have them ready for next season.

Hi Cameron,

Please let me know if I understand this right: I could just show up at the RQYS reception on Saturday with $15 (as adult non-member) for the windsurf lesson?

Plan so far is to run weekly until Easter. After that we will wind it back to either fortnightly or monthly on aftetnoon high tides depending on demand.
