Pretty safe to say Qld cleaned up! 'State of Origin' wasn't calculated but Qld for sure would have won!

1st Slalom , Sean Obrien ,3rd Vando, Masters Slalom Dave Sandos, 2nd FR Vando, Masters FR and Slalom Dave Sandos, FR Women Kellie T, I may have that not quite right, but was something like this, also heaps of Qld finished high in the results of both Divisions.

Check the final results on the GI website for full details.

Last day provided a perfect photo day, amazing shots about to post a few on Freerace Qld FB site.

Big pack up of a lot of gear, followed by a big night!, everyone that attends a GI ends up meeting heaps of people from all over Australia, you get to sail with some amazing sailors, Pro's, and this year Former world champ Jessica Crisp.

The racing is of the highest standard the top guys are at whole other level, you get to see some amazing freestyle action too!

For what ever reason those that attend GI are all super nice people, there are no ego's, whilst the competition is fierce on the water, everyone looks out for each other and off the water everyone pitches in and is super friendly, you all arrive as strangers but leave as friends.

It was a physically tough week, not just the mega winds being tough in the 'off season' , heaps of sore body's at the end of the week, a week on the reef takes it toll on your body also through coral cuts, abrasions etc, most people will be off the water for a week to let the wounds heal!

It's a big effort to get there with all your gear (which has to be super minimal) there's not trailers full of a gear to chose from, most people just had to make do with what ever they had, mostly over powered, then on the last day, many underpowered!

Aside from the racing side of things, if you wanted a nice warm windy, winter windsurfing escape, put Green Island on your list!

Would you say cleaned up?
WA clean swept the freestyle and placed a second in the slalom- in your back yard

I understand that you lost the league State of Origin so you are willing to claim anything right now so i suppose we can let you have this

The Western Australians are our friends. It's the New South Welsh people we need to beat.

Ha ha!, not to mention the Brisbane Lions at rock bottom also!
Don't tell anyone Two x Qlder's were born in Victoria! Another is a Kiwi, and another actually resides in WA these days!

Would be good one day to see the top 6 racers from each state battle it out up there one day, I can think of a few WA names that possibly would shaken up the results, there were a couple of Qld guys that were not there that would be super competitive also.

Anyway, it was a great week, will take another just to get back into the 'real world!'

BY Popular demand Freerace will be back, bigger and better!

We've taken all the feedback on board, mixed it with some Green Island coral, blasted it with some 30knt gusts and its on the stove simmering as we speak!

Just tweaking the recipe, checking on our ingredients and more importantly what resources and tools we have to work with, before negotiating with all our butchers, bakers and other suppliers, then we can announce what's on the menu!

We want to create a yummy master piece that will be to tasty too ignore!

Stay tuned all will be revealed within the next 2 weeks....hopefully!

pretty full on wasn't it!

not sure what went on there or who it was, but there was a fair bit of stuff like that happening all week up there, most crew copped a decent stack or two or three...sore and slow bodies at the end of the week!

I'm sure there will be other bit's of video and other images that will surface over time...there was often a video on hand to check starts and finishes of races, plenty of 'photo finishes and starts' throughout the week, some of the finishes were pretty amazing, with guys up front being mown down in the last few meters being a regular feature!

The 'finish line' most of the week was right near the beach! so the last leg was a mad dash to the line...not often you can get high speed racing so close to the beach, would have made great 'TV' or general public viewing. Hope we get to see some of those finishing video's in the future, certainly better action that what was on offer at the most recent PWA event!
