It's hard to describe how absolutely amazing the recent Gerro trip was so I have attached a couple of images to try and capture it. For mine it was easily the best sailing I have ever had and I am already very keen to repeat it next season.

An amazing colour to the water. This is Coronation Beach in Geraldton befor the wind "turned on" for one of the most awesome sessions where we were all fully lit on 4.2 - 4.7m sails.

Not my boom but the result of coming down to hard from a massive jump.

A photo of on of the many trees between Gerro and Lancelin that have grown at an angle due to the power and consistancy of the wind.

It's an awesome spot, good to hear you scored great conditions.

Did really well to snap that boom! If anyone wants to buy a streamlined boom, mines for sale (it's in one piece ). This probably isn't the best add for it .

Mate, there are some seriously good sailors down there. Was a heap of fun just watching them sail. Was awesome being on port tack everyday.

They are awesome. I heard later there was a Guy Cribb session being held there. I wish I had have realized earlier so I could have tapped into that program and met the bloke. I reckon he would enjoy a bundy as well.

Is it far from Lancelin Scot and did you take your own gear?

About 3.5 hours drive from Lancelin. I flew to Perth and then took a smaller plane to Gerro. I took a mast (400), a boom and two sails and hired the board. Next time I think I will take all my kit and drive from Perth. You need a car in gerro anyway and the perth/gerro trip is where the length restrictions apply so you can't take things much over 2 meters in length.

We were lucky to be able to tip in with one of the guys staying in a hotel for work but otherwise we would have stayed in a cabin at sunsets caravan park.

Perth to Gero is about 5 hour drive along the Brand H'way...
Could stop and have a sail at Greenhead for wave or slalom also - adds to the trip but Greenhead & Leeman tend to have more consistant wind than both Lancelin or Gero - I windsurfed at Leeman for a couple of years in the early 90's and helped out with the "Snag Island Classic" windsurfing event there...
Those were the day's - average 5 day's a week on a 4.5 over the summer months...

Im a 88kg fatty - is it worth taking 2 boards (JP FW 102 & Fanatic Freewave 85)?

Hi Joey,
How long are you going for? I would def reccomend taking 2 boards if you can fit them in. Because the lagoon is of a reasonable size you might want to take your 102ltr out if the wind is a little ilghter. 88ltr will be fine for most afternoons out the back.. Gero is awesome. We drove over about a year ago and stayed up and down the coast for about 5 weeks. I weigh 93 and took my JP FSW 107ltr and JP Twin 92ltr. I definitely used my smaller board more but was happy I brought the larger one.

Hair cut (another seabreeze member) was over there as well when we went and he only brought 1 board. Cant remember exactly what size it was but it was a reasonably small board for him. From memory, he regretted not bringing his larger freestyle board.

Have fun!!
